He obviously can, but I'm not sure if he will. I've never been impressed with Poirer, outside Holloway fight. That was a great performance. I do think Hooker is a more impressive striker, while Poirer is a better boxer, if that makes sense.

Overall, I think Hooker is a better striker, and I think he can pick Poirer apart. The problem is, Poirer is pretty tenacious and he's going to come forward with combination. If Hooker doesn't finish Poirer, I think more likely Poirer's pressure, better boxing will win him the fight.

I wouldn't count out Hooker like many are doing. I think Hooker is better fighter than most give him credit for, and I think he has a good chance as anyone as long as he doesn't get finished.

Hooker clearly lost to Felder. DP is much better fighter than Paul everywhere. DP by 4th round tko.

Hooker has a punchers chance for sure, comes from a great gym, is on a serious career resurgence, Poirier has been knocked out and put on wobbly legs plenty before.

But Hooker from what Ive seen of his career is outclassed in every way vs Poirier.

Hooker has finished several quality UFC LW opponents such as James Vick, Gilbert Burns, Jim Miller & Ross Pearson, all of them within the first 2 rounds

Poirier has been finished by quality UFC LW opponents such as Khabib & Michael Johnson not to mention some high level FWs like Conor & KZ

Can Hooker finish Poirier? sure why not.

would I bet on it? probably not because Poirier has improved so much that it takes a killer with an elite animalistic skill set like Khabib to finish him as of late

I know a DP will finish a Hooker. Seriously though, yes Hooker could catch him and put his lights out.

This is such a huge fight. We now see where exactly the evolution of Hooker has lead him. The Felder fight was a coin flip fight - that close - .....in fact, I believe the location led to Paul absorbing the L. This game is so unforgiving. Most people have already forgotten that awesome fight and now it just reads a win for Dan and a loss for Felder.
Dustin is the rightful favorite and I believe hes the better fighter but the gap isnt that significant so really looking forward to this fight. I've become a supporter of Poirier so I'll be rooting for him to handle business. Hes an elite 155er who has a genuine belief in himself.

Poirer didnt impress with against Gaethje. he could barely stand up when he ko'd him. Hooker has a chance, but I think Poirer is a top 5 guy and Hooker is more toward the bottom of top 10-12

He definitely can, but I just think Poirier is the better fighter and will win.

poirer has been nothing but impressive. record full of legit wins. insane cardio and striking volume every fight and awesome ground game with slick submissions and is tough as nails he passed the jbg test when he fought justin.
hooker is dangerous to everyone in the division. it'll be a good fight for sure. i think dustin gets it on volume but if he gets finished i wont be shocked. surprised if he loses a decision maybe.

He could.

But Dustin could finish Hooker too.
Like he did Gaethje.

It’s possible but DP’s cardio has looked pretty good lately and that’s Hookers only avenue here, overwhelm over time
It’s possible that DP blows his load trying to finish Hooker (yea yea) and gets finished himself for his efforts late in the championship rounds

I wouldn't say he "clearly" lost. but it wasn't a convincing win. DP SHOULD win, but Hooker is tough.

It this level of LW, yeah he surely “can.” Would I bet on him doing it? Nah.

My spider sense is telling me that Hooker wins this. Not because he's more skilled, I just feel this one of those bananas peal moments like when DP lost to Michael Johnson.

Something in my gut tells me Hooker takes out Poirier. I’m a fan of both guys, but Hooker is on the come up and has looked sharp. Poirier has improved greatly but he isn’t getting any younger and knows he’s not getting the belt anytime soon.

I think it’s going to be the story of hungry contender takes out former title challenger come Saturday night. All I know is it will be a great scrap.
