Can conor stop edgar from taking him down?

edgar is a monster, hes very good at mixing up boxing movement and takedowns, theres a reason they chose mendes over edgar for the title back then. I see edgar as probably his worst matchup

Frankie has taken down Aldo, Bendo, BJ, Sherk, Gray, Faber. All of which have much better TDD than Conor and Bendo who is the same size as Conor and who Frankie dropped with punches. Conors guard and game off his back is nonexistant as well as opposed to those guys.

Frankies the best transition fighter in MMA. Hes going to beat the living shit out of Conor and recently Frankies boxing and ground/gnp game has improved. He will finish Conor on the ground.

Conors only chance against frankie is an early finish

once the first round is over, every second that passes an edgar win becomes more and more likely

he doesnt need to take any risks he knows that come rounds 4 and 5 edgar will still be fresh while conor will be exhausted from throwing a load of pointless spinning kicks

Not for 25 minutes straight. Edgar does not get tired.

There is a reason Conor is avoiding Edgar like the plague and making every excuse not to fight him. He even jumped two wait classes just to avoid him. Unfortunately that backfired.

It Depends right, just like anything

If Frankie Edgard just shoots for a double leg from kicking distance, Mcgregor is certainly capable of stoping it. Being a huge featherweight helps it a lot.

Now, if Frankie throws a jab, a feint, ducks under Mcgregors counter to take him down (what believe he will do), then honestly, Mcgregor would have a very difficult time stoping it.

Nope. He was lucky to get out of the Mendes fight, and that was because Mendes didn't even get to train. Frankie is going to box Conor up on the feet and tool him bad on the mat. Conor will need to land a devastating counter punch early on in the fight, otherwise he's gonna get dragged into deep water and drowned.

no, even Dennis Siver took him down (twice was it?). Wanderlei and Anderson Silva also suffered a lot of TDs in their prime reign but they made up for it. A takedown is not the end of a fight.

if conor doesnt finish him in the early exchanges there is only one winner in that fight

especially since frankie is the only Featherweight used to getting hit by much bigger guys and none of them managed to finish him

prime anderson had a lot of weapons to end a fight, conor really only has his left hand.

This what we've known, the UFC has known and deep down Conor knows. The only ones who don't recognize this are Conor's delusional fans.

I don't think we can say for sure Edgar will go for the go takedown. He's faced many strikers standing

Only if he can keep him at distance with strikes. But damn, Frankie can close distance fast.

Sure, he could. However, Edgar has good top control and I'm not sure if Conor would be able to get up under from him.

Frankie is the only guy who took BJ Penn down other than GSP in like 8 years. Frankie has the best footwork in MMA, some of the best boxing... he will turn Conor all over the fucking cage. He has an iron chin, which he won't need because those wheel kicks will be a foot over his head and won't send him circling to his right.

He won't NEED to take Conor down. And in the event that he does need to, he's an all American wrestler and a Ricardo Almeida brown belt in BJJ.

If people think Nate is a bad matchup for Conor, they haven't seen shit. And the fucking funniest aspect of all this, is that Frankie could EASILY be a Bantamweight. Frankie can be a 3 weight champion.

When your options for a fight are Aldo, Edgar and Mendes with a camp... and you are sliced up like a hot knife through butter every time the fight hits the ground... Conor will not be champion after UFC 200. His next two fights will be losses. Pick your poison, Conor.

Frankie has changed/evolved a lot.

In the days, he used to dart around, touch his opponent and dart away, surprise them with a TD and just let them back up 2 seconds later, and win the round 10-9.

The new Frankie is a scarier, more dangerous beast.
Now he darts in and clubs guys, really hurting them. And he takes people down, keeps them down, pounds them, and can even sub them.
I think new Frankie is a nightmare for both Conor and Aldo.

(Edit: to be fair, Frankie was an undersized LW and BJJ blue belt back then; now he's a FW and BJJ black belt)
