The Zombie Belt (trademark pending) - recognizes persistence in fighting despite not being good at it (anymore) - initial belt holder will be BJ Penn (I feel like Diego Sanchez is destined to get his hands on it though) - Zombie Belt can only be obtained (won) by losing to the current belt holder - holder of the Zombie belt cannot retire, leave the organization (standard champ clause) or be cut. - no interim Zombie Belt belts (this is a serious belt and it cannot be sullied by some "interim" bullshit) - no Bellator version. Half of Bellator roster could qualify for the Zombie Belt - cool kids will probably call it the Z-Belt but real fans won't The Zombie Belt will inject real excitement into what are currently some of the saddest fights on a card. BJ Penn fighting pretty much anybody at this point seems like a bad thing. Penn proudly fighting for the Zombie Belt makes it exciting main card material. The Zombie Belt will proudly recognize those fighters who can continue to hold a job despite no longer being qualified for it. Is that not something most of us can relate and/or aspire to? Let's embrace the underdog! I am slightly embarrassed for the UFC that they did not come up with this themselves. You are welcome, Dana.
