How would you calculate this V02 max? My sister did a experiment today to test my V02 max too see how in shape she was. Her maximum heart rate was 173.

Work Rate
300 Kgm
450 kgm

Heart Rate
110BPM for the 300 KGM
125 bpm for the 450 KGM

I don't see how she would be able to tell how "in shape" she is from your VO2 max.

VO2 is measuring how much oxygen you utilize in ml/kg. How would determining how well you utilize oxygen during work not tell you how "in shape" you are from a cardio standpoint?

google it rather than asking on sherdog if u want to know! lol

as far as im aware its just a measure of how much oxygen you can consume while exercising at your maximum, your heart rate wont help you need to run on a treadmill with a tube in your mouth measuring your volume of air or something like that

it is a measure of fitness because fitter people usually have higher v02 max. some people have a naturally high v02 max because of the proportion of their body and their lungs, ie lance armstrongs lungs are apparantly big compared to the rest of his body so has a naturally high v02 max

Read TS's post, and mine more carefully. If you still don't see what I'm getting at, I'll tell you.
