She gets fouled for a variety of reasons, but the angel reese and griner seems to be race related to me. But she is the most fouled player according to stats that I saw. Maybe because she is good, maybe because she is white-I am not in the minds of cheap players.

Clark aside, what say you of my comments? Do you agree that black/white is not news but white/black is?

They used to go after the best players in the NBA too. Bad Boy Pistons had the Jordan Rule and they would hard foul him anytime he stepped in the paint.

The NBA started to soften the game especially after Malice in the Palace to combat the perception that it was a "thug" league. And now players are signing fully guaranteed $300 million contracts so team owners want to protect their investment.

The WNBA is closer to the NBA of 30 years ago. No one watched it so it didn't matter. They are now probably going to change rules to appease the CC fanatics.

You really are as dumb as your post history suggests. The player that fouled her was white. The player that pushed her down was also white. The black player rushed in to....point her finger at Clark after Clark pushed the player that fouled her.

All the violence was initiated by white players. I bet you dissected that video trying as hard as you could to find something wrong that a black player did. And when you couldn't, you resort to an intentionally vague "black girls were involved too".

They are not being "thugs". When hockey players fight do you think they are being "thugs"? What about baseball? It's a physical sport. Emotions are high, players are yapping at each other, hard contact happens and fights break out. Anyone that has played basketball on a playground has seen it happen.

I know it's women's basketball but stop being a pussy and trying to pussify everything. Crazy that has to be said on a forum for a sport where both men and women punch each other in the face.

The racial parts of this issue are an absolute mess.

Firstly, there are quite a number of white players in the WNBA, and some are prettier than Caitlin Clark, who has "girl next door" looks, and is not a beauty queen. Therefore, while SOME people may have taken an interest in her that wouldn't in black players, that is far from the whole story given no one has that kind of interest in any of the other white players in the WNBA, even though many are more Barbie-ish looking and All-American looking than Clark. So Clark is a commercial sensation outside of anything to do with race even if that is a part of it.

The fact that 17% of the flagrant fouls were against Clark last season (a pattern that appears to be continuing) out of 144 players makes it kind of indisputable that there is real vitriol against her, and that this abuse is intentional. There were some pretty brutal fouls that could have really hurt her if you have been watching. And she is not a girl with a bad attitude off the court, so it really isn't personal in terms of her personality, but more to do with her success.

There are racial issues to some degree on both sides- there is some racism among her fans and some racism among WNBA players (Exhibit A- Britanny Griner and her "white bitch" statement). I think anyone that can't acknowledge that identity is part of the issue on both sides is just biased. A lot of the resentment from other WNBA players comes from the fact that she gets all of the attention and notoriety rather than racism, and most of Clark's fans like her for non-racial reasons (otherwise all of the other white players would be popular too).

Magic was every bit as popular as Bird, and Jordan and Lebron are more popular than any white NBA players ever, including all of the white stars in the NBA now. It isn't all about race.

It's mostly just Basketball. I think the media plays into the race game and some players get caught up in it when interviewed, but at the end of the day, she's a sophomore superstar in a league with very few, if any, other players on a similar level. She's gonna get hacked to shit, regardless. It happens in the NBA all the time, regardless of race. It's just that the WNBA only has one real star right now, who just happens to be white, so it all gets magnified to a ridiculous degree. If she was black and clowning everyone else, it'd be the same deal.

Just look at this recent incident. It was a white girl who was picking on her and got checked. It's still somehow racist, though. I do think some players hold a racist resentment towards her, but it's not like they're just going out there and beating the shit out of her. Not really. This thread started with her being named on time magazine and her getting tons of backlash. Why would there be backlash? Oh yeah, she’s a white girl kicking ass in a black league, so it’s news. I am assuming it’s the two white girls fouling Clark because that has been all over x today. You keep saying things that you read about or find on the news are not news. I dont have your hangup over your personal definition of news. Many times you say something is not news & its news. Its honestly a bit confusing.
