I'm not sure if it's been brought up at all, but he ate some shots last night. I don't think he was even wobbled once. What's the updated verdict on it? Not to be overly technical, but as it's been pointed out before he got hit behidn the ear in the first fight, so that shouldn't be indicative of his chin.
He always had an iron chin. Kongo hit him with some nasty shots and he never went out. He wasn't even phazed by Brock's shots. JDS just hit him behind the ear and followed up well. Anyone who seriously thought Cain has a bad chin is a dipshit who knows nothing of fighting.
Solid chin, nothing superhuman like Hunt's or Nelson's, probably not even as good as JDS', but still, definitely a good chin, way better than other HW contenders like Mir and Overeem.
So does JDS have a weak chin now? Ya know, since "pillow fist" Cain Velsaquez dropped him and all ...
I don't know. JDS said he didn't hit him clean once. How punches look and how they land are two different things.
Yeah but you can't fully believe fighters sometimes. I mean what is he going to say? "Oh I hit this guy as hard as I could and hit him smack on but he still kicked my ass. Anyway, give me my rematch!"
Cain has always had a good chin. The fact is, he fights at heavyweight. Anyone can get KO'd/rocked at any time in heavyweight.
He took some punches from a JDS Zombie that could not even keep his hands up. The fight proved that Cain does not have pillow fists, though.
This. I mean, his chin isn't fantastic, but his recovery is nuts. He went out for half a second when JDS was ground and pounding him in the first fight, but as soon as the ref jumped in he got up and looked fine. His fight with Kongo showed that his chin isn't iron, but dropping him isn't surely going to take him out of the fight, either.
