Cain Velazquez releases a statement after being pulled from UFC 207

"A few short weeks after my surgery I’ll be as ready as I always am"

<36>

Get well cain. Sherdoggers are mad that they can't talk smack to you in real life. You would slap them and take their girl.

i know you were joking, but i never understood when people say this. do people actually believe that professional fighters are so undisciplined that they would risk throwing away their career over words?

i mean, i know they get hit in the head for a living and fight in a cage, but give them some credit

Damn, I hope he didn't hurt his fingers typing all of this.

He could have just said something along the lines of, I don't know:

"Hello everyone,

I'm sorry I fucked it up once again. I train at AKA though, so is normal.

Sincerely yours,

Cain"
Or you could have read the real truth. NSAC is the same piece of shit organization that it's always been.

Not sure why anyone is blaming Cain. In what world is it normal to make a medical evaluation based on a fucking quote. Only NSAC would do something this retarded.

More like:

"Hello everyone,

My doctors said I was able to fight but NSAC pulled my license anyway.

Let me bang bro,

Love,
Cain"

I'm a big Cain fan...but I think Rothwell correctly called him out on this. Cain and his camp knew damn well that mentioning this injury would alert NSAC and get the fight canned.

Sherbros called this before Rothwell

You can't recall it happening because fighters keep their mouth's shut about injuries to avoid exactly this happening.

What possible good could have come from Cain doing that interview?
He wasn't trying to do "good". Firstly, he was being honest, as people usually are. Secondly, he was complaining about his problems/the adversity he was experiencing here, as people tend to do.

There's nothing nefarious going on here. That's just people piling on him. I'm no Cain fan, but he doesn't deserve any shit here.

It's the NSAC people should be bitching about. They pulled a fighter who went out of his way to show how his doctor believed he was not at risk of any injury by fighting.

Or...just maybe...train smarter you dummy.

Some people aren't made for continuous grinding especially with his injury history.

Cruz had to adapt his whole training program and give it a complete overhaul. You may never be 100% again but competing at 90% may still be enough for him to win the title.

You're being very naive. There was a guaranteed way to make sure this fight happened and that was to not mention the injury to anyone. Very easy, and every single fighter that truly wants to fight does it.

Nice speech, but every Tom, Dick and Harry lately have become experts in credible excuses.

I wouldn't be surprised if every gym has an MD and public relations specialist on hand nowadays.
This seems like a specific sort of incident and he isn't suspended or anything. This is just one of the many reasons fighters don't talk about their injuries.

The really messed up thing is that Cain and his doctor went out of their way to provide the NSAC the medical facts.

And the NSAC ignored them. They'd already already made up their minds based on a damn fighter's quote, not a medical diagnosis by a doctor.

He REALLY shouldnt be thanking the stupid commission for professional behaviour if this is true. I just hate such sleazy over polite nonsense. They removed him before reviewing his results and pulled him cause they felt like it in the first place over an interview. Professional ?! Are you freakin kidding me!

And Cain is too open and nice. He should learn to keep his mouth shut.

Of course, they did. If a fighter puts that kind of info out in the open, real or supposed, and then he suffers severe injuries in the bout that he tries to link to that pre-existent condition, it will mean fuck all that a doc cleared him. The commission would be invested by a shitstorm no matter what for clearing him to fight ignoring adverse indications, with possible lawsuit and a pr nightmare. The commission's mission is to protect the fighters even from themselves. No commission member would put their arse on the line for a fighter doing such a stupid thing as Cain did. Who would?

Thank you. It's like people think the NSAC is just a mean parent that won't let you have your chocolate pudding after dinner. They are covering their ass because a fighter they licensed made PUBLIC statements in regards to his negative health and immediate surgery following his scheduled fight. We're talking a back injury here people, not some sprained ankle or jacked fingers. The NSAC isn't going to allow a person that is in self-admitted pain, pain strong enough to require medication, and needs back surgery to fight before that surgery takes place. If Cain is really this dense he needs to call his lawyer and have it explained to him just how big of a liability he would be if the NSAC allowed him to fight.

Guy should just retire.

Only if Kongo koed him out. The future would have been so much better for the hw division

I hope the fight is still going to happen in a few months. Cain with an injury would have lost again.
