Cain screwed DC over twice. Once by making him go to the LHW division when Cain himself could have gone to the LHW division (DC wouldn’t have those losses to Jones) and number 2 is by how he beat Lesnar.
Lesnar took Cain down and then utilized butterfly guard I believe to pop an over-eager Lesnar off of him. If Lesnar had had more patience he could have secured Cain to the mat better and then gone for GnP instead he got over eager and it allowed Cain to get back to his feet and thus beat Lesnar.
In his next fight Lesnar didn’t make the same mistake. He made sure he secured his TDs against Mark Hunt and then started his GnP.
Cormier’s got a good chin but if Lesnar has him in his back and is utilizing GnP, I’m not sure how many fighters who can take too many of those fists to the head before they are TKO’d or KO’d.
Now if Lesnar gets Cormier down I don’t expect him to make the same mistake he made against Cain. I see Lesnar securing the takedown and then utilizing his GnP which could be a fight ender. If Lesnar gets DC down and finished him he can thank Cain for teaching Lesnar to take his time and secure the TD before GnP or submission attempts.
As much as some don’t like Lesnar he is a quick learner and doesn’t often make the same mistake he made before. Sure getting his striking up to decent levels won’t happen but that’s another story.
