in the same sense that joe frasier wasnt. cain's style is very cardio intensive, spamming takedown after takedown to open up punches, but often taking punches in the process.
in boxing these fighters have known to have dominant but shorter careers. whereas the style of, say, gsp, is very cardio-efficient.

that said, cain in his 2nd reincarnation is the worst stylistic matchup for jds, jds being the outfighter, cain being the grinding infighter, reminds me of ali vs frasier

Can you give me the winning powerball numbers?

Thanks in advance (but you probably knew that was coming).

He won't be champion for long with a weak chin like that, especially at Heavyweight.

Exactly my thoughts coming it to this thread. His defense isn't great to boot. And to think people were saying he's the next Fedor... Fucking emberrasing.

I agree his chin is suspect, but he may be good enough to not get hit hard on it again for another 10 years (like Fedor).

Still, everyone knows there is a weakness and what it is. That's part of what makes watching his fights entertaining.

At that weight, pretty much any heavyweight will take a nap after a big punch.

Joe Frazier wasn't a long lasting champion because he fought in one of the most talent-rich HW boxing divisions the sport has ever seen.
Cain will last as champion so long as he can avoid the big punch to the head.

So TS I think you are wrong x 2.

Not true at all, JDS landed the exact same punch on Mark Hunt and sent him flying across the ring and he was still in the fight. Nelson and Carwin also took horrifying beatings from him and still never quit. Cain takes 1 shot and he's completely done.

Cain's chin is fine. And his style is fine too. He's been knocked out once by the biggest puncher in the UFC. The only other time he's been in anything like trouble was against Kongo, and that was like 5 years ago. Not to mention he recovered from those punches really well and showed tons of heart.

People are always just fumbling for reasons to hate the champions. Waah Cain has no Chin, Jones only wins cause he's big, Anderson can't stop a takedown, Weidman's win was a fluke, GSP is boring and has no chin, Benson is boring, Pettis lost to Guida and can be lay and prayed, Aldo has lost his killer instinct, Cruz is boring, Mighty Mouse is too small. Yada yada... Bunch of fucking fatties on here acting like they've got these professional cage fighters all figured out haha.

Lol at Cain having a suspect chin. What fight are you talking about. At that weight and that level anybody will go to sleep from a big bomb. Now someone like sakara who gets koed from a arm punch from stann on the ground that was only like a six inch shot.. is a good example of a glass chin

This got me laughing on the floor. Anybody who thinks that a person can take a hard clean shot from a heavyweight and keep standing is an idiot. Roy Nelson may be an exception but to be honest, he's been hit hard but most of them weren't flush. Still, he's the only dude that can take a punch exceptionally well and I suspect that will cost him in the near future. He'll begin slurring his words in the next 2 - 3 years, sad.

He'll beat JDS again, then Werdum, then Barnett and all comers for the next couple of years. JJ included

You sure? How about Sakara taking the missile that is Cote's right hand and surviving it just to KO Cote right after?

Based on the fact that the only guy that has beat him and really poses the other real challenge to him is JDS, and those two are head and shoulders above the rest of the HW's (kind of like Jones and Gus for the moment at LHW), Cain might last a while.

Well, I understand what you're saying, that high pressure fighters often don't have the greatest longevity, Cain doesn't really take that much damage. If Frazier didn't have his eye problems, and if George Foreman wasn't around, he could have had a long lasting career. People really forget just how much damage Ali took (he was infamous for taking horrid beatings in sparring, as well) and he had very respectable longevity (though his life after boxing certainly suffered). MMA isn't structured so that you'll see anyone take the kind of prolonged beatings that happened in the Ali/Frazier wars.
