Before DC decided to go LHW to not block Cain's run or fight against his teamate, DC was murking every HW alive in Strikeforce, and at that time everybody were ok to say that the best HW's were in strikeforce (Fedor, Barnett, Overeem etc)

An active HW DC in UFC would have be the HW goat

But he decided to go LHW and faced Jones who tarnished his legacy

What a waste

Cain was a beast but DC would have a longer reign than Cain who faded quite fast

DC should have been an HW during all his career

DC is a good boy he sacrified his career for the sake of his friend career

This may be true. A similar example is Barao staying at BW (despite having near-death weight cuts that cost him the title) because Aldo was the FW champ.
great example, thats exactly what im saying about dc/cain, cheers mate

at some point , when the adversity rise and you are not fighting in your "natural" weightclass, you will pay the price

im pretty sure that an active HW DC would have been the best version of DC ever

Double champ. SF HW GP winner. Victories over (context people!!!) Hendo, Gus, Barnett, Miocic, Rumble x2, Mir, Nelson, Silva are all good to great wins within their time frames. I would say that's a pretty damn good legacy. Probably a top fifteen or so career of all time for a guy who started fighting at 29. Not bad, huh? You guys love to hate DC for any reason whatsoever. Is normal.

DC had his shot and did well. Wasn't for too long when they were clashing. DC weightloss was good for him

DC had a stellar fighting career, but his true legacy will always be defined by this.

OP, I’d love to be inside your brain for a day. The variety of your threads is fascinating, you cover every part of the UFC’s history.
i appreciate that nice comment, its quite rare on internet, glad you like it, cheers mate

its not like either were great, good perhaps, great? Nah!

Jones would've beat Cain back then too.

Hope that helps.

This is silly. They werent just friends, they helped make each other as good as they were.

DC has 3 titles,and Cain has 2

OMG NO

FUCKIN RUINED

I wish he did fight fedor, that would have been amazing for the UFC to market DC in a position that he faced FEDOR!

You're conveniently leaving out the fact that DC himself said he couldn't beat Cain. He was moving down because he had no path to the title so long as Cain was champ as he couldn't beat him and didn't want to fight him anyways even if he could as they were friends/he was Cain's coach.

Cain would be champ for another 2 years until he loses to Werdum. Who was also a terrible matchup for DC. And Werdum loses to Stipe who won the DC trilogy.

It's the complete opposite. DC only has any legacy precisely because he moved down and failed to win that belt but luckily enough for him Jones hit a pregnant lady with his car and got stripped for absolutely nothing fighting related so he never had to beat Jones. Someone else he couldn't beat.

DC's career is the definition of being in the right place at the right time rather than actually ever being the best.

Cormier has always maintained that Velasquez was better than him, so the latter would've defeated the former.

Cormier was always especially vulnerable to body shots, even at Heavyweight (See: Frank Mir fight).

And a pre-Ngannou version of Miocic would be an even worse matchup for Cormier.
