This is one bet that I think is a for sure lock, but the odds have Elliot as a big favorite. I thought Ben had a slight chance against Benevidez, but against Elliot Ben has a 70 percent or more of a shot at winning. I see him being very patient and punishing Elliot for his sloppy movement and takedown attempts.

But is anybody with me on this or am I hyping up Ben Nguyen too much. Or does nobody know who he is?

buy. he had a tough fight with smolka where he got brutally finished. fight should have been stopped earlier. that ref was a fucking sadist. but that didnt show his full potential or abilities. then followed it up with a decent decision win.

70% is a bit much, oddsmakers usually know what the fuck they're doing, otherwise every single casino would be broke

right?! and I thought he looked very good in that Smolka fight. It showed that he had potential to hang with talented scrappy guys and in his last fight he looked a lot sharper and fought smart. He's currently a +190

I'm telling you this is a fight that should be a close one in odds... the last 2 fights I've had this feeling with were about the same odds. Masvidal vs Cerrone, and Whittaker vs Jacare. Every now and then the odds makers get hyped off of certain guys and dont give the other fighter enough credit. Elliot is scrappy but he's definitely beatable if you don't play his games.

well i guess elliot would be carrying in momentum from his decent performace against mm. well a decent first round... and to go from title challenger and a win over smolka, to fighting a fighter sub #10 (is thirteen actually) i guess that could lead to betting odds favour tim elliot...

but im excited for this fight. i like ben, and he trains in australia now. so im rooting for him always.

Ben Nguyen showed none of the ability to do that against Smolka so why do you think he'd be able to do that against Elliot who is better at imposing his will and grappling style upon opponents than Smolka is ?

Elliot is absolutely massive for a 125er, doesn't slow down much and I doubt he's going to be much "punished" that much for any mistakes he may make that's just not how fights at 125 often play out. The punishment that 125ers generally deliver is just not punishing enough to discourage a high level and experienced opponent like Elliot.

Honestly at -200 I think Elliot may be the best value on the card.

Oddsmakers don't have to be necessarily right or wrong. They just put out odds in a way that maximize profits and minimize losses so they break even or make profit.

I'll agree that Ben has a better chance against Elliot than Benavidez but I'm not sure that he is going to win. I favor Elliot more since he is more proven and I will put him at 60%.

Tim Elliot fought twice in a week and still nearly beat MM

short notice fight for Elliot, long flight to australia, hard weight cut, and puts himself in bad situations in every fight he's in. It's all against him.

I agree. I give Nguyen very little chance, i think Elliot easily overwhelms him. I will be betting against Nguyen, likely in a accumulator together with Cutelaba and Daniel Kelly (thats my big upset pick for this card).

Yes there are some factors against Elliot and I don't think he'll be at his best but Nguyen just isn't that good to begin with. They're just on 2 different levels.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nguyen beats Elliott if the fight stays standing long enough and if he can defend the takedowns. Nguyen was beating up Smolka on the feet before being taken down.

Massively sell.
Nguyen is far too physically weak. Look at what Smolka did to him, it was like man vs. boy. Then watch the Smolka/Elliott fight.

Nguyens only hope is a sneaky hail mary submission off his back which is never gonna happen against Elliott.

Elliott, submission 2nd round.

I like Ben but I think Tim is going to win this one pretty easily with his wrestling.

Ben is a great guy! I'll always support him, being a local fighter. I also think he has a decent chance here. I watched that smolka fight live and Ben just burnt out there imo

Elliot has had a recent rise, but can he adjust to the size?

Honestly can't see past a Tim Elliot submission, maybe I'm wrong but I just don't think Bens very good...

This is how i see it, Tim might mix it up with some unorthodox striking but i think he's going to mainly try to overwhelm him on the ground
