In the wake of the Machida/Shogun decision a lot of fans are claiming that Machida should have handed over the belt to Shogun. In the long, storied history of boxing has there ever been a case where after being given a gift decision the champ handed over the belt?
The closest thing that I can think of is the draw between Tommy Hearns and SRL where Sugar after admitted that the fight was a robbery and that Hearns should have won. Tommy Hearns once gave his belt to James Schulers family after James died in a motorbike accident. There was no robbery though as Hearns took out James in one round; its still a heart warming gesture though. Handing over the belt after the challenger was robbed is possibly the greatest show of sportsmanship that I can imagine, I would love to believe that someone has done it already.
