I need to bulk up for a NAGA tournament ...i need to gain about 15 to 20 pounds without hindering my cardio....any pointers on a workout routine??

Eat more and lift heavy?

Just an idea, I don't know.

should i still do strength and conditioning drills??? .....cause there is no doubt ill be doing some regular bulk lifting...

15 - 20 lbs of muscle or just weight in general?

lift heavy, eat a lot (a LOT) and sleep.

i'm definitely not an expert on gaining weight but to me i don't see how you expect to gain that much weight and not have your cardio suffer somewhat, because to maintain good cardio you're burning a ton of calories, which is going to make you lose weight instead of gain. (unless of course you're eating a TON of food, which you should be doing anyway). :D

Time frame is going to be important, how long are you talking?

Lifting heavy weights for strength training is fine, but do yourself a favour. Stay lean, bulking up will not make you a better grappler. Bulking up will not allow you to tap out other fighters. Working on your takedowns, positioning and submissions will.

Unless you're below the lightest weight class, I dunno why you'd want to gain weight for a grappling comp. I suppose it's possible that you've completely owned everyone in your weight class and are looking for a bigger challenge, but I really doubt it.

Pick out a routine from the FAQ or starting strength wiki, and eat for the size you want to be (between tips here and D&S), and sleep a lot. Size may come, but it will take time if you're trying to stay in shape for grappling comps.

It would seem this question is more for the grappling forum, as you've got the "regular bulk lifting" down.

Indeed, what'll be hard is fitting the grapple press into your routine.

Why would you want to gain 20 pounds? Surely you'd want to lose a couple of pounds to goto the weight class below rather than massively bulk yourself up?

How much time do you have? There is no way you can add 15-20 lbs without it negatively affecting your conditioning.
