Part of me is curious to what a kick by Buakaw would feel like...the other part of me wants to beat the fuck out of that part of me.
God damn this guy is an animal. There has to be some kind of diminishing returns when it comes to Buakaw and MT fighters doing the same thing over and over again though

I counted zero real pull-ups.

i am shocked that a professional fighter is saying something like that. the pull ups are clearly for the video ("badass look") Either you don't do pullups at all to let your body regenerate or you do them properly to increase your power.
You'd be surprised. I don't know the reasoning behind it, but I have seen a ton of pro fighter do shit-tier pull-ups. Everyone from mayweather to rashad. Although they could be successful despite their shitty pull-ups. Honestly seems like they are just wasting energy to me.
I'm sure shertards know better then top tier s&c coaches.

was his weak or lacked explosiveness?
Explosive pullups like that are great for a compound upper body exercise... and pulling exercises are great for clinch fighters.
Keep in mind that MT, like MMA is not just a sport where you extend and rotate.
If his pullups were slow repped I could see some arguments against...
if you want to fight more explosive than fight explosive and do plyos. S & C is such a complex topic and it is hard to evaluate, if 1 additional exercise like "bad ass pullups" benefits the athlete or not. if you want to do explosive conditioning then at least do things like deadlifts
Cain for sure had a top s&c coach who let him make(bad ass) things like that...
what was wrong with his pull-ups??? seemed like they were going for explosiveness.
On a good day, I can do 15 real pull ups in a row. I tried doing one of Buakaw's and I couldn't. It really requires a lot of explosive strength and I can see how it transfers over to the clinch.
Are we really complaining about his pullups? The guy does not have one ounce of non functional body mass on him at all. He is obviously doing something right. I can do lots of "real" pullups but not too many hand release ones like that. I wish i could do such poor exercises like Buakaw.

As for those questioning his pull up's effectiveness...... If you've seen him in the clinch pulling his opponents into knees and tossing them around the ring, he's pretty damn effective at it!
