Buakaw is set to make MMA debut VS Yi Long at the end of this year

But why now? I wish he did this years ago. I love the idea of a good Thai switching to MMA but hes to old to switch it up at this point unless its just the one off. You cant teach an old dog new tricks. Nevertheless im curious to see how it goes down. It will be interesting.
 
it was on banchamek gym's face book page that buakaw vs yi long 2 is happening. I really hope afterward he fights andy sower in rizen for new years eve
 
almost sure it will be a one time thing and i think sooner than the end of the year.

What do you expect. That is how mma has always worked. When your body and skills start to decline you with to mma. You see it all the time were guys were on the downside of their respective discipline or retire from injures but then end up fighting mma. Hell even someone like ronda rousey was on the downslide in judo and body to messed up to really compete at that championship level anymore yet here she was becoming a mega star. You have. You have a guy like dejdamnrong who couldn't compete with the top mt fighters anymore for almost a decade yet he can have a successful career in mma all the while being considered way past his expression date in muaythai

i heard kunlun is preparing a retirement event so maybe he'll do some mt goodbye thing but that's it.
weeks ago he fired all his gym trainers and now have 4 new guys. you can tell they are way more technical than the others,2 of them especially for boxing training.
 
please no Buakaw, seeing Aerts get smashed by a fat cunt already broke my heart,
 
Buakaw is so shot at this point that I really he should just fight a random can.
Yi Long gave him way too much trouble in their first fight.
 
Does Yi Long actually have a martial arts background in Kung Fu? If so he might be able to lay n prey Buakaw.

Yeah I get what your saying but the big difference is Buakaw will be 34 and although that's not very old it is for a fighter who's been fighting since he was 8. His body has gone through a lot. Ronda Rousey had her first MMA fight at 22 and her body hasn't gone through the type of stress Buakaw has. I get Buakaw has to do what he has to do but I would prefer to see a young, strong fresh Thai like Yodwicha or Thongchai switch over to MMA for once. Buakaw may have some success but it will always be limited.

point is he doesn't have......this is more his manager doing pr stunts like usual and getting paid silly money to land his name to promotions.
hid leg is gone there is no recovery and they are not idiots. tomorrow he co-promotes kunlun38 and he could have easily fought a can but he'll do a demo because he's not even training. so there's no way he will debut in mma later this year,just a single fight.
 
I had hearing about that,but now it is confirmed for me.

If the first fight reached a bigger sucess than have to be(if you consider the quality of the fight),imagine now under MMA rules exposing to all the world the "Muay thai King vs Shaolin Monk".

I think Buakaw is going to retire soon from MT or KB soon depending of how good he do the first fight(not retiring at all,but focusing on MMA for 2 or 3 years ultil retire on everything)

He can clinch Yi long to death this time,if he have some Bjj and MMA wrestling ,he goes and clinch Yi Long and Knee and elbow him until the end.

Stop overanalyzing everything. This isn't a Thai making a serious attempt at MMA, it's just Buakaw raking in a shit load of cash late in his career as he has been doing for years.

Go call your boys at Sitsongpeenong to get a young fighter started in MMA...

This! He is most likely getting a huge amount of cash so why wouldn't he take it?
 
it's not even sure this ;):eek:SINGLE FIGHT:rolleyes:o_O will happen at all because both wlf and kunlun want the fight to happen for their own promotion. they had to fight in march....now end of the year so there is no agreement.

Is that what you consider overanalyzing? I dont have a problem with Buakaw fighting MMA. I'm actually excited. I would just prefer to see a young Thai in his prime competing. If Buakaw loses im pretty sure a lot of MMA fans would use it as a reason to shit on MuayThai and I'm sure Buakaw can rake in big money whether he fights in MMA or sticks to kickboxing/muaythai.
 
I strongly doubt Yilong fights in anything other than kickboxing. Buakaw actually trained in BJJ and wrestling before, and he has decent TDD, Yilong hasn't. If this is an MMA fight, Yilong will get murdered.
 
I've also seen a similar source say that they will have another popular Chinese vs foreigner bout in Kunlun at the same time because Wulinfeng out did Kunlun recently, this might be Fang Bian vs Simon Marcus 2, or maybe even Fang Bian vs Kyshenko, we'll see how true these rumors are.

Hope marcus or kyshenko(want to see kyshenko against him)Knock his ass out,because that fight against Cedric Doumbe was a very huge robbery.
 
That fight against Cedric was bad but to be fair neither guys did anything in that fight.
