Remember when Brock floored Heath Herring and then charged across the octagon at him like a pissed-of rhino? Of course, we all do. But do you remember Heath stuffing multiple takedowns, escaping from the bottom several times, and surviving all three rounds? Yes, Brock won an easy decision, but he came in to that fight at 50 pounds bigger than Heath and still had to fight and claw to control Heath.
We remember him choking out Carwin, but do we remember Carwin piss-pounding him into a living death in the first round?
Before I re-watched Brock's fights, I was picking him to win versus Hunt. But his fights and perceived abilities were all tainted by the larger-than-life persona and stage and hype at the time. In hindsight, it's clear that he's a huge guy and a very good wrestler who has struggled every time he has fought top competition (e.g. guys at or above Hunt's level). He's never beaten a guy as good as Mark Hunt is. Most importantly, he's never controlled someone anywhere near as strong as Mark.
Before last night, I thought Brock would grind and out-cardio Mark. But after watching Brock struggle to hold down Herring for fifteen minutes, I'm leaning toward Mark rather easily stuffing Brock's takedowns and landing the big shot in the first round to send Lesnar into the fetal position.
