I think more likely it was because he didn't have much of an MMA career. Most MMA guys aren't fighting Shane Carwin their 6th fight...they've normally been punched by some low-level guy with less power, and they get used to what it feels like to get hit and how to react and recover. He never got over the shock of being hit in the face and couldn't handle it.
 
No - Randy, as has been pointed out, was old and too small a HW, Mir was never the same after the motorcycle accident, Carwin was stomping Lesnar's ass until he gassed in bizarre fashion, he was juicing vs. Hunt and lord knows how many others.

Any time Brock fought top tier competition on their game he had his ass handed to him. He was wise to go back to the no testing, big money of fake fights - too bad we didn't get to see DC mercilessly curb him.

herring beat kongo before he fought brock,parry was brock's partner and he was beating him too
schaub was carwin's punching bag

I think he was properly rated as - pretty decent. Beat some guys and got smoked by some guys. Didnt' like to take a punch although he had the courage to get in the ring and risk taking that punch. Took as ass kicking from Carwin and then came back for the finish in the second round. Personality wise he's a complete tool, but give the man credit. He stepped into the octagon and put up a fight.
 
Underrated? How did you rate him?

He won matches (IMO) where he could monster opponents and lost the ones where he couldn't. That's cool with me though, he ran with what he had.

Similar to Ronda now that I think about it.

Not sure.. while he has plenty of naysayers he has plenty of fans too that saw the incredible feet he pulled off.

Someday when you are all grown up you will learn that MMAth does not work..

most underrated? Hell no. People constantly put Brock on their top ten heavyweights list.

Gonzaga is an average fighter with one very famous win. He's not some end all be all staple to overcome.
