The UFC had no problem with Brock living out in the woods and not promoting fights and CM is just as big of a star as Brock. If Brock could get special treatment, why can't Conor?

I thought Brock did all the media promotion, just not the meet and greets with the fans.....?

He may have done press conferences here and there but he didn't do anything close to what the UFC has Conor doing.

But Brock just needed to be Brock. Connor is a small guy in an unfashionable weight division and is only this famous because of his mouth. Take his talking away and he is not a 290lb beast with a ready made audience .

Agreed. But Brock was a HWT coming from WWE, basically a household name. Conor weighs 100 lbs less and really needs to promote himself and the fight more than Brock does.

Look at this as Conor being a star and Dana reminding him who the boss is. Similar to Dana doing the same to Brock after his Coors Light comment.

One had prerequisite fame, the other had not. Mcgregor will fall from fame without the UFC hype machine behind him and they know it.

You are kidding yourself if you think he needs to do a media tour to sell this fight. Conor has built himself into a star aleady, he doesn't need to talk anymore. UFC 200 without Conor doesn't do close to the same buys. The UFC is cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Hell, why not everybody. "Just do what you want guys and gals, see you at 200."

Because Conor signed a contract that involved his participation in the media promotion of UFC 200.

Conor, Brock, Ronda. They did all the heavy lifting. Everyone else basically showed up and smiled.

its similar, in my mind, to the things robin williams went through - they're so good at getting the public to like them, that its gets tiring and they dont know how to constantly one up themselves - i think its gets tiring bc they have a level of understanding of what it takes to be liked that is much higher than others understand and they expect themselves to hold to that high level all the time - i cant imagine being conor and trying to constantly one up himself, esp after losing the way he did - there is a reason people dont go over the top w sht talk in a pre fight, the aftermath when you lose sucks

You know how big of a star Conor is realistically?

Jones is fighting in 2 days and the media doesn't even give a fuck. Conor is dominating the headlines because he is the biggest star on the roster.

Like it or not.

actually Conor has cut off his nose and come back to the UFC to save face...

He does need to talk to justify buys of him against someone that outclassed and out-sized him in his last outing.

You're crazy if you think that Conor hasnt established himself a giant and steady fanbase. If he keeps winning he will sell monster PPVs, with or without the promotion.

Well, Conor is bigger than Brock for one.

Don't let Conor's words fool you though. If he was fighting anyone but the only man to beat him in the UFC, he'd dislike doing the promotional shit but he would still do it. When you go months saying you're unstoppable and all that other stupid shit, you probably don't feel like explaining to the world why you got your ass whooped by a 18-10 Welterweight on 11 days notice.

Brock was so alpha Dana didn't want to get wrecked. Brock attracted an audience based on his performances and his name value. Brock never got more PPVs based on what he said.

Brock is also a huge cross over star, who could (and did) return to the WWE and make his money while taking his fans with him. If the same situation came up, Dana would give in immediately because before Brock they were hurting for a mega star. GSP and Anderson were stars, but nowhere near that level yet.

nobody else is close to Conor's level of stardom. Stars in all sports get special treatment.
Well then we should go with your logic. Stars get special treatment, therefore, Conor does whatever he wants. What about
contract clauses? "I just said stars in all sports get special treatment. Contract stipulations are out the window. Plus, Conor's already done media. Once your a star, prior promotion for other events, obviates all future media." I didn't know that. So when your a star who has done media in the past, it all becomes otiose in the future. No more media. Genius!
