Both Lesnar and Jones are facing sanctions from USADA, the body that collected the samples, and the Nevada Athletic Commission, because of the sample collections' proximity to UFC 200, which took place in Las Vegas on July 9.

After an adjudication process, the NAC has the power to suspend and fine both Jones and Lesnar. In Lesnar's case, the fine would be a percentage of his disclosed $2.5 million fight purse. USADA can also suspend them as the UFC's anti-doping partner.

The UFC will not be levying fines against anti-doping offenders, leaving fines up to individual state athletic commissions, according to senior vice president of public relations Dave Sholler.

Lesnar, a current WWE star and former UFC heavyweight champion, made far more than $2.5 million in undisclosed pay at UFC 200 for his win over Hunt, according to reports. That money is likely to go untouched. Hunt has asked the UFC to give him at least half of Lesnar's fight purse because Lesnar was allegedly enhanced in the bout, or he wants to be released from the promotion. The fight would be overturned into a no-contest if the NAC sanctions Lesnar, but it's doubtful Hunt will get his financial wish.

Jones is also not facing any kind of fine from the UFC, just a commission fine. In a case like Chad Mendes, who has been suspended two years by USADA due to testing positive for a banned substance, he will not be fined at all. Mendes' sample came from an out-of-competition test not related to a fight and no commission has jurisdiction.

Money from an NAC fine does not go to the commission, but to a Nevada general fund to be used in other areas. If Lesnar decides to just go back to WWE, never fight again and not pay an NAC fine, the commission would have the ability to seek legal means against him.

I apologize if I'm doing something wrong here with creating a new thread. I just saw this and thought it important enough to put up. If I was wrong for doing this just 'cause I'm a noob, my bad.

Don't apolgize, people will be mean to you anyways. Thanks for the article!

Nothing unusual there. It's the athletic commission that hands out fines, not the org.

^thanks. I just read the rules for new members. No posting of ENTIRE articles so I removed info we already knew and only left the relevant ones pertaining to the subject title.

I didn't see a thread on this here. Good job TS.

Ya'll remember that Wallid Ismail shoop "Somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, Wallid is pissed"? Somebody needs to make that with Mark Hunt. He's gonna be furious lol.

The UFC can fine fighters for violating the Athlete Code of Conduct policy. Also, there are rules within the USADA regulations that allowed the UFC to fine fighters as punishment for violations, bt that money goes to funding anti-doping.

Hunt will be pissed, but not much of a story otherwise. I'd still expect fines from the NAC when it's all over with.

Of course. But what caught my eye was that the NAC could seek legal action against Brock if he decided to just go back to the WWE and never fight again (and not pay the NAC fine).

Yet Brock is still under contract with the WWE so I'm not quite sure how this works in this unique situation.

Is there an example of the UFC fining someone recently, I'm wondering if they save that for fighters who cost them money lost from cancelled fights. The Jones situation seems like the reason that rule would exist. Gonna guess not having to pay him was enough.

Not off the top of my head. However, some fighters have failed drug tests when the UFC has self-regulated itself overseas. They MIGHT have been fined in those instances, I need to do some searching. I could be wrong.

Going forward, with USADA, the UFC can fine fighters though. they won't for Brock and Jones though.

I couldn't find anything that wasn't a mislabeled commission fine but I'm about to sleep and barely trying.

Was curious because I thought we might be able to gauge 200's success based on how they punished Jones. If they fined him 5 million on top of everything coming I woulda thought it may have underperformed lol.

Jones not getting fined is understandable. He didn't fight. BROCK on the other hand... If a fighter misses weight he has to give up a percentage of his purse to his opponent for having a weight advantage. Wouldn't you have to give a percentage for PEDs?

Why are some here callling me TS? Isn't he the guy who posted one of(if not "THE) greatest troll threads of all-time with that AdVair(asthma inhaler) nonsense?

Brock and Jones made them tens of millions of dollars, that will never happen. Why would you fine your fighters that make you the most money?

Jones probably still made the money, but obviously not as much if he fought. UFC saved a lot of money with Jones' removal.
