Elections Bringing in Hinchcliffe was a brilliant move by the Trump campaign

Nearly half a million Puerto Ricans live in Pennsylvania, a swing state. Would you really want to take that kind of chance when some of these margins are less than 1 percent?

Trump had sex with Stormy Daniels like 3 weeks after his wife gave birth. Told a TV host he grabbed women by the pussy on national TV, fostered an insurrection leading to retards storming the capitol building, said people in Ohio are eating dogs and cats and said and did a bajillion other moronic things.

Yet his supporters still stand by him. You think Trump cultists can have their mind changed by a joke from a comic? I think not.

The people who think Trump was racist was never voting for him in a million years anyway.

And I don't think Hinchcliffe is actually racist. It's just an "edgy" joke.

And I don't mind jokes making fun of minorities (I'm a minority.)

Again, the people who think Biden is elitist and divisive was never going to vote for him anyway.

I think the jokes were on brand. People didn't have problems laughing the Mexican jokes but as soon as he said the one about Puerto Rico, there was groaning. NY has a large Puerto Rican population so I think it was telling that they were fine laughing at other people but not themselves. I think this is a cognitive problem with Trump supporters in general, a general lack of empathy. That said, I question how many people in the audience even understood that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory.

No, I think that some Puerto Ricans in swing states that found the joke distasteful and insulting may show up to vote when they were originally going to stay home. Small margins could swing some of these really close states. Why risk it this close to the election?

I said it was a good move by his strategy team. Trump's a liar so he's trying to play both sides now.
I was told Hillary was getting locked up and I’m three and a half years into the whole Unity thing. Both of which i support btw.

I fear we may have in fact

Not Built Back Better

I mean Raytheon was never destroyed so…….technically

Yes trump said and treated women horribly and currently has major issues courting women voters.

The ohio shit was one of his most embarrassing moments in the campaign.

You are highlighting things that have hurt him in elections and in the polls as evidence he can't lose support from puerto ricans now?

The ones that don't usually vote are not going to vote this time. Single issue voters have already made up their minds.
.
You speak with certainty in ways that defy history.

In fact, Trump rhetoric, has driven people 'who don't usually vote' to show up to vote at RECORD numbers on both sides. Those who like what Trump says and stands for and those who do not, have set records in turnout.

So why would you proclaim it does not?

The election is 5 days away. A comic making a joke about Puerto Ricans is going to make no difference.

Yes, election DAY is 5 days away; meaning, many people have yet to vote.
If the polls are as tight as they say they are, then every thing matters. You have no way of knowing what people are going to do, and neither does Trump's campaign, which is why they distanced themselves from this.

Biden only won by about 40,000 votes in the swing states.
People can be fickle. The problem that parties usually have in elections is not someone completely changing their vote for the other side, it's that they just don't show up to vote. You're not exactly motivating minorities new to your party to go stand in a line and vote for you with race jokes. With the margins this close, it's tactically pretty stupid to make moves like this and think it can't hurt you.

You continue to make the dumbest statements in this thread.

Do you think if the comments were made 6 months ago they would have more impact?

it is the freshest comments or actions that tend to matter the most, on the eve of an election. The ones that are fresh in peoples minds as they vote.

He's literally found to have sexually assaulted someone in a civil trial and you people still saying how bad that joke was 5 days before Election Day? Not buying it. The people that were vehemently against Trump were already voting against him.

All the damage that Trump can do has already been done. The people that are STILL voting for him despite it all are not all of a sudden going to change course because of a dumb joke by someone that was not even him, but his presenter. I highly doubt there are all these "undecideds" where this tipped them over the edge.

Every person who doesn't like Trump have people in their personal lives that likes him. You know how impossible it is to change their minds.

OMG he lost a civil trial? wow.

These elections are far from black and white choices for voters. Are you suggesting Trump is going to get pretty much the same number of votes in every state again because no one leaves or joins the cult? I highly doubt it.

There are a spectrum of folks who voted for him, some pretty reluctantly, based on a handful of policies. That can change when they feel personally slighted and aren't just observing him slighting others.

Also not sure how familiar with Puerto Ricans you are but I lived for many years in a Puerto Rican neighborhood and they seemed far more faithful to PR and the recognition or lack thereof it receives than they were loyal to any politician or party so the notion their votes could change when that becomes headline isn't crazy at all.

Maybe, but more so for the fact that Trump fans can finally not hate on some little gay guy. Gay dude on their side now!

FYI the residents of Puerto Rico CANNOT vote in the general election.

Puerto Ricans living in the other states vote overwhelmingly Democrat regardless.

I'm not talking about the people that are vehemently against him, or vehemently for him, their minds are made up, and nothing is going to change that. Believe it or not, as polarizing as he is, there's still some in the middle that don't know which way they're going to vote, or if they're going to vote at all. Those are the people that could be affected by this kind of shit.

See post above you.

There's 500k in Pennsylvania alone, a swing state; 1.1 Million in Florida. If a small percentage changes or shows up, that could still effect the outcome. Not worth it for a dumb joke.

Not buying it.

If it is true, then you should be glad since it appears you don't like Trump. I'm voting for Kamala myself. Doubt this makes any difference.

If it supposedly made so much of a difference, then it would be mitigated by Biden's all Trump supporters are trash comment.

None of us know what will happen till the election, it could be a nothing burger. But the point is that the Trump team didn't really need to do something that risky so close to the election.

You are not buying it as you are pretty out of touch.

This is NOT about people already voting for Trump, or people already against him and yet you keep repeating that.

This is about the percent of independents, who tend to make up their mind in the closing days before the election. The same group who are largely said to have voted against Hillary, giving Trump the narrow win, based largely on the James COmey, FBI disclosure.
