Of course, I doubt he would ever come to UFC....I mean why the hell would he considering the pay discrepancy in boxing vs MMA.

However, I would be very interested in seeing a boxer (in his prime) with a wrestling background in MMA.

I was very naive (and borderline delusional) to think James Toney was going to pull this off...not with his training/work ethic.

Seeing a younger, talented boxer like Kermit Cintron in the UFC would be very interesting, and more representative of how a "boxer would do in MMA."

He has a wrestling background? Here I come Wiki.

I believe it was in Junior College. With a good sprawl and the ability to keep the fight standing he would do good in MMA, similar to Cro Cops success

When Dana called out Floyd to fight Sean Sherk, Cintron said he would take the fight because he wrestled before he ever boxed. Dana didn't take him up on the offer though.

Toney made a cold miilion 4 this fight, how much do Cintron make?

How much "does" Cintron make? I do not know. But compared to his boxing purses...I would imagine they are far higher than the 60,000 and 40,000 upper tier UFC fighters make.

Jon Jones' wrestlings has only Jr. college credentials and he throws people all over the place...

Cintron has deadly power and at least some basic wrestling skills.. so he would do much better than Toney, who has no wrestling skills..

holy ignorance batman, Jon Jones was a div.1 level wrestler who didn't go to div.1

school because of other circumstances in his life, he was a new york state wrestling

champ in HS and went to a JC(in Iowa,ICCC) designed for wrestling prospects to

transfer to a DiV.1 school , he was the best wrestler there too and won a JUCO

national title,he skipped DIV colleges to enter MMA young for money, he has also

won many wrestling comps(vs good wrestlers) outside of school in both greco and

folkstyle, it's a very poor comparison to compare cintron as a wrestler to jones,

jones is also a very good at devout judoka.

Less.. because there is no hype machine behind Cintron.. he's not the "GREAT JAMES TONEY".. he's the decent Kermit Cintron....

As was Cintron.

jon jones was scouted to some of the best wrestling division one schools and won

many wrestling championships in greco and folkstyle, he also trains a lot of judo this is

why he throws people around, cintron only got offers to The University of Wisconsin–

Madison and Ohio State University , he also never won a JC championship, cintron was

a good wrestler but to compare him or use jones grappling as how he would in MMA is

way wrong, jones is levels above cintron as a wrestler.

Interesting, I didn't know Dana targeted PBF for such an event.

I always thought that if Cintron played it smart, he could make it big in MMA. His wrestling base already puts him ahead of most strikers that cross over and he'd instantly be the best striker in all of MMA.

Even his boxing style is perfect for MMA. He's a KO artist that doesn't rely on jabs, body shots, etc. One-punch power is what you need in MMA if you want to stay away from the ground.

Invest 6 months in training submissions and he could easily debut against a mid-level fighter. He can be a KJ Noons right off the bat and with a few fights under his belt he could easily be fighting for a belt and with the right marketing, he could be a lightweight, boxer version of Cro Cop.

Do it, Kermit!

Targeting is overstating it because it never was serious. PBF talked shit and then Dana called him out. Dana never made a serious offer when it comes to money. The UFC and PBF never even negotiated because we all know they can't touch what Floyd makes in boxing.

how would that be more representative? He basically has mma training already, not a pure boxer trying to switch over like Toney.

And even so he would really need to polish his wrestling up and start from the bottom and a good 2-3 years of local orgs/shitty comp before he got to UFC. Look at Koschek, he's 10x the wrestler that Cintron is and still got taken down at will by GSP and he knew GSP was going to go for the takedown.

I would give him the best shot of any boxer, but like I said he'd need 2+ years to polish his wrestling, learn basic guard, sub defense, etc.

Dana would never bring a young, powerful and athletic boxer with a wrestling background to the UFC and humiliate his guys, he'd rather bring in an over weight and over the hill fighter with a speech impidement that is 3-2-1 in his last 7 fights and hasnt stopped anybody in 7 years.

Dana is only a business man, and I hope he burns in hell, but we can only blame Toney for taking the bait!

Um cintron would be one of the guys if he ever switched over they would feed him cans and build him up. James toney worked because he talks like a retard and talks shit about mma. Cintron would be class and get respect, you dumb.

Best striker in all of MMA. God forbid any Muay Thai specialist or K-1 fighter gets to fight him. Boxing is a great sport but doesn't teach you how to use all your tools for striking. Let's not even compare him to Crocop, Crocop could kick people's head's off their shoulders. Legs have more reach than arms.

All I'll say is that Kermit is the only boxer that I know of that could be successful in MMA. There maybe more but not that I can think of.

I agree. Dana White will sign fighter that wants to fight in MMA that is serious. If you got skills & you aren't there to bash MMA but to compete, Dana White will sign you in a second.
