International Brexit Discussion v8: Theresa May's Final Hours

Oh man. That TV debate was depressing af. Good ol Boris had no idea what to do. He rambled on about negotiating backstop details in the interim phase after Brexit, but there is no interim phase if there is no backstop.

Also the newest YouGov polls spell doom. The members of the Conservative Party want their Brexit so badly that 63 percent would be willing to give the Union with Scotland and 59 percent the bond with Northern Ireland for it. 54 percent would accept that their own party would break, and are convinced that a hard Brexit would help them win the next elections.

Then the killer question: Would they rather have someone as head of government who had a good Brexit plan but no vision for the country, the pollsters wanted to know. More than half didn't care about the country's well-being, only Brexit was a priority. It is these people, on average between 65 and 75 years old, who choose the next prime minister among the five men, who presented their visions for the country on Tuesday evening for an hour on the BBC. The bad news for the members of the Tories: a "good Brexit plan" was not included.
Fucking old people they ruin everything
Irony is when this shitstorm they forced on the population happens and u.s companies are allowed to rape the nhs then there will be far less of the old farts

It was fucking embarrassing. Ruining the country for what exactly again? Oh that’s right. Egos.

Rory Stewart seemed like the only one with any sort of grasp on reality , but his comment on taxation (no cuts for next few parliaments) will have pretty much fucked whatever slim hope he had with the Tory base .
As long as his handlers can prevent Boris from saying or doing anything to horrendous for a little while then he's got this in the bag .

Grasp of reality: David Cameron made it clear that voting for Brexit meant leaving the customs union and the single market. This is specifically what they told people they were voting on before the referendum. It was made clear over and over again.

Then afterwards the media elites and these Remainer Tories like Stewart, Hunt and May have tried to pretend like this wasn't the case. And those like Gove have the temerity to suggest they are defending democracy in opposing No Deal Brexit that doesn't involve this, when it's the opposite.

The majority of Stewarts party backed a deal , the question on the ballot paper did not mention the customs union , the referendum act contained no legal requirement to implement the result .

Leave needs to win another referendum or 2 and then 5 more GE or EU more elections before we are sure what the public want. We also now pretending like Labour didn't run on a pro-Brexit manifesto as well.

And I see the BBC, to no one's surprise, emulates CNN/MSNBC/ABC by consulting with staffers from the left-wing party on what to ask questions to try to damage the candidate(s), or in this case, let them ask directly.

What questions struck you as particularly unfair then ? .

The lectures given by the antisemitic Muslim Labour staffers from Bristol and London.

Although the quality of the questions really didn't matter, since the format and the moderator/host whatever the British call it, was horrible. Woman was in the Candy Crowley mold.

That’s not what we are discussing.

You said the Brexit party is the best and I’m asking why and what there plan is. You can’t provide that so again why are they the best again?
It will be the best deal, don't bother me with details .....

£39 billion to leave the EU? That's extortion. Plain and simple. They have made it either No Deal or Brexit in name only. Which means No Deal and no extortion money. And if they actually think the UK will leave with no deal, they will finally compromise IMO.

The payment is due irrespective of whether there is a deal or not. Not paying essentially means the UK would default on a payment.

Gonna be interesting how a) financial markets and b) negotiation partners for future FTAs will like that.

Given the past predictions on Brexit, everyone will go far better than expected.

..... this is better than expected?

Every dire prediction about the British economy and consequences of the Brexit vote has proven to be exactly the opposite.

The only predictable thing that has happened is elitist politicians and media trying to overturn the referendum.

No Deal Brexit and within 3-6 months, people will be wondering why they ever thought it would be a bad thing. EU doesn't believe Britain will leave with no deal, that's why they refuse to compromise on anything. it becomes a reality. there may very well be a deal, if not, the EU has enough problems without trade wars.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but Brexit hasn't happened yet. That's why it hasn't affected the economy.

Say there is a no deal Brexit. Do you think that having no export agreements with any country is good?

How long do you think the USA has been trying to get new deals with Mexico, Canada, and China? The UK will have ince give to go faster, but that just means the US will try to fuck them over.
