Very true about UFC using matchmaking to their advantage to keep grapplers away from the title picture. I wish this was discussed more.

Same deal at HW with Blaydes. He's gonna have to fight all the top prospects (Aspinall was supposed to do the job but the worst possible scenario for the ufc happened. Now, they are counting on Pavlovitch to do the job).
The worst is, if he loses ONCE, I'm sure he's gonna have to fight and win 4 or 5 more fights before getting a shot.
Not being popular really sucks. I'm not really a fan, although I think he's becoming better with his striking. But he deserves more credit.
In all honestly, I'm fine with the UFC keeping him as far as possible from Gane, but it's not really fair.

This. Most had Muniz as the clear favourite and future title contender. Also, roughly half of them chose Muniz by submission (just check the prediction scorecards in the sticky thread).

Styles make fights. They were about equal on the feet, but Allen had better wrestling, both times they went down he ended up in a dominant position. They will use a guy like Allen as a gatekeeper to keep these BJJ or wrestling specialists far away from Izzy and Alex.

Izzy would do great against bjj and wrestling specialists. Pereira could be in trouble though

They did just sign Bo Nickal to that division. He probably transcends their worry about grapplers ruing the division, since he is apparently likable and has a fan base. Perhaps they want Allen to gate keep until Nickal can snatch up the belt.
