Media BREAKING: Sean OMalley, fighter who just lost the title, admits nothing was wrong, no injuries, no excuses, best weight cut and camp he had

No, but I think he def thinks it affected the fight, and I think announcing it like this and then doing the whole BUT this isn't enough excuse looks incredibly corny. But what else would be expected from a guy who has a podcast with his coach so they can talk about themselves?
Maybe but Sean said something about taking some time off and not fighting for a few months. A surgery would explain why.

Feels like every champ that loses their belt in recent times had an injury we hear about weeks, months later. Wasn't focused because of _____ had a rough _____. Blah blah blah refreshing to hear an ex champ admit they just got beat and no excuses. I dont like Sean but props to him. Hespect.

So what?

So Sean deserves props for pandering to fans and telling them what they want to hear ?

Ive no doubt he means it but other people shouldnt be shunned for telling the truth.

"what happened in the fight? why did you lose?"

Well I---

FANS :FUCK YOU

"what happened in the fight? why did you lose?"

Nothing happened, he was better than me, nothing was wrong no injuries no excuses, I suck and he's actually good :: sound of sucking dick ::

If you think it looked like he kicked the ass of the best version of me thats ever been , congrats thats what it was. You guys are Smart thats why.

FANS: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

his coaches podcast said otherwise

'yeah shawn was a bit lighter than he usually is.. not sure why... he was 4 pounds under where we wanted him on fight night'

then goes on to give merab credit. like bro you can't make an excuse and then say its not really an excuse.
I started a thread before the fight that when guys say they had their easiest weight cut ever they almost always lose. It proved true again here with O'Malley.

But Sean is having hip surgery because he tore some shit in camp? Dude needs to make up his damn mind.
And did he use that as an excuse?? The fuck, if he needs surgery he needs surgery. I mean if he was coming in with a bum hip that's more valid that staph lol

He never said the 2nd part. “He was 4 pounds under where we wanted him on fight night”

Fake news. He just said he was 4 pounds lighter. Didn’t make an excuse. Didn’t use it as an excuse. Literally just said everything was the same as always just “Sean was a little bit lighter”.

cause if you have an easy weight cut that means your weight was probably lower than what it usually is in fight camp which means your not going to be as strong..

The hint of excuse O'malley gave was that he felt like he wasn't as strong as he wanted to be and that Merab was so much stronger and controlled him. He said he was lighter than usual in camp.

Except he let it be known that he is going for surgery for a torn labrum in his hip. Not really No Excuses is it? He put it out on some Youtuber's Youtube thing. Doesn't have to publicize that but he did. That means its an excuse.
Jesus, I can't stand the guy but maybe it means that he's going in for surgery and it's a real thing in his life that he might talk about. One thing that seems clear- and I really respect this - is that he's not using it as an excuse after losing this fight.

so basically he got beat fair and square and Merab is the better fighter
that is always case, but fans create narratives in their minds to ease the fall. Similar when Holloway best the breaks out of Gaethje, allegedly Gaethje broke his nose and twisted his knees before the fight, instead of admitting Holloway did those things to him.

Well it is a bit odd. Same day he posts "No Excuses" he also is on a Youtuber's thing saying I had a torn labrum and need surgery. Not just he now has an injury and needs surgery but specifically that it was 10 weeks before the fight.

"O’Malley to his credit has made no excuses, but he has announced that he’s heading for hip surgery the first week of October. The former champion suffered a torn labrum 10 weeks ago and will have surgery to repair it."

That is literally publicly making an excuse after saying no excuses. I am not a hater of O'Malley at all. I think he is a great fighter with excellent skills. But that is literally an excuse.

Sean also said he's taking a lot of time off and won't fight for a year. Saying he has to have a surgery is an explanation as to why.

He doesn't seem to be blaming it for his loss. You know when I had surgery on my hip I talked about it a lot. No one accused me of making any excuses. Jesus I can't believe you're making me defend this fucking clown.

Sure but literally saying I lost no excuses and in the next breath and barely more than 48 hours after the fight that you were injured 10 weeks out is an excuse. If he said nothing for a while and then stated it that would be a little different. He isn't required to tell us that he is having surgery. He isn't required to say it was an injury from 10 weeks before the fight. Doing that is literally making an excuse. Pretty straight forward.

I can't say "No Offense" but you are a dumb smelly inbred shithead and not expect you to be offended. O'Malley saying no excuse and then listing an excuse doesn't eliminate that excuse.

Were you doing publicity for yourself right after losing an athletic competition? He is giving an excuse. It doesn't need him to say "The only reason I lost is because I tore my labrum and that is why I lost" for it to to be an excuse.
