Yan is on a 2 fight win streak. Both decisions vs 2 guys Corey finished.

I think that given we saw Merab/Yan fairly recently the "deserving" thing is plenty close enough to give the guy a shot who didn't fight either of the ones fighting for the title yet.

And cory lost to Yan, and loses almost habitually any time he takes a step up, yet people are always eager to quickly give him yet another step up.

I wouldn't be mad if cory got the title shot, but he just hasn't done anything for me to argue his case to get it.

Yeah he did lose an extremely close decision to Yan. Definitely fair, I think the point is more that there's a case for either and when that's true it's better to give a fresh matchup than one we've already seen.

That said, I think if O'Malley upsets Merab that makes Yan's case much stronger. Yan was robbed vs Suga, so giving him that rematch for the title makes perfect sense. But if Merab wins, we don't need to see Yan stuff 38 of 49 TD attempts again but mount zero offense of his own. Would rather see what Corey can do in that matchup.

About time. Poor guy has been asking for his release for a year or so.
I think he can become top 10 at BW. Not sure about champ but we will see

31 and talented. No reason for them to not sign him as long as the price is reasonable.

Why did they even buy bellator if they're letting all their best fighters walk?

Usman Nurmagomedov released next? I mean, Makhachev just vacated the LW title, right on time for him to ditch Bellator´s.

Hopefully Usman, eblen, and Nemkov are next.

PFL is such a dumpster fire of an org. I have no clue what their long term goals are

You should phrase it the other way. Why would someone buy a company to get their contracted workers? If the wanted Bellator's fighters it would be cheaper just to sign them in free agency.

Buying Bellator means they get their distribution and broadcasting rights in Europe and other continents if Bellator has. It also gives them ownership of their video library, which has 10 years of content on it.

If you're using O'malley as a standard by which you want to follow in regards to what constitutes "deserved" title shots, then we're on two very different pages.
I said plenty of other fighters have gotten title shots for doing less, not just O’Malley. How did Diego Lopez get a title shot over Evloev (who he lost to)? Can we stop pretending that title shots are purely about merit? It’s as much about timing, match ups, popularity, etc. We already saw Yan vs Merab, there’s zero intrigue there. Sandhagen has a great style and will be an intriguing matchup against either Merab or O’Malley. Let’s not overthink this, give Sandhagen the next shot.

I don't think he's as great as some people do.id like to see him make his debut against vinicius Oliveira or font
