News Breakin Oscar De La Coke Has Covid, Ducks Belfort. Holyfield Offers To Step In

Hollyfield is almost 60 and punch drunk. He's barely intelligible in interviews. This has the potential for tragedy. Can't believe anyone sanctioned this, god forbid if anything serious happens, someone might go to jail. No way Hollyfield pases a properly done medical exam.

Yeah, exactly. Boxing isn't golf. There shouldn't be any seniors tour bullshit.

And.., I've said it before but I'll say it again, mma'rs are just strange, I think boxing people are generally more down to earth. I think the weirdness drives off a lot of fans too.

Maybe twenty plus years ago when mma was fringe sport and home to some strange dudes but I don't think that's the case today.

Even with that said professional Boxing has attracted some of the most hideous and pompous personalities in sports history to it.

Maybe, I still think a lot of people are put off by the foolishness. I've said it before though, no comparison between the deviant shit boxers do and the absolute psycho shit mma'rs do, none. One guy dug out someones' heart, another guy beat his porn star girlfriend, another wanders into the middle of the desert. Weird shit, and their boxing is lame, and they usually have poor cardio because they're lazy. And they don't have a lot of sense because they fight for peanuts and answer to assholes like Dana.

i don't want holyfield fighting either but I think he's pretty safe here.

You never know when a guy has his kind of mileage and is a year shy of 60. Doesn't take much at that point. He should never be sanctioned at this point.

It may be a tired argument, but it is correct....

Did you ever fight yourself? Would you have the balls to go from being a boxer into MMA? I fought in boxing and muay thai but never did MMA not out of fear of it, but simply because I thought it was a waste of time for my career (plot twist, muay thai and boxing were both a waste of time too).

Most boxers would not go into MMA simply because they put their livelyhood at stake with a broken leg or a broken arm. Why throw away your career to show "you're the man" lmao.
Actually that is a pretty reasonable response. Boxers have everything to lose, MMA fighters don’t. Skill set vs skill set will never be challenged because Boxers won’t compare the two. Got it.

Yeah okay bud.
Let me know when you grow up.

CDC data shows that over 99.99% of people who were fully vaccinated against COVID-19 did not die or even require hospitalization. The highest hospitalization rates remain in areas with low vaccination rates. I guess I must be kidding myself or Oscar was a 1 in 10,000 case.
Not according to the data coming out of Israel.

Twice his size? You would think he was fighting Semmy Schilt. Vitor fought Overeem before and Holyfield is a former Cruiserweight. Most of his HW fights he weighed 210-220. I expect him to look a little bigger but let's not get carried away.

I don't disagree.

Holyfield says he's 220lbs right now.

Wasn't Vitor meant to be fighting at 180lbs and slimming down for it?

Vitor obviously isn't close to the boxer Holyfield is, but he's in his mid 40s, has very fast and powerful hands, and Evander is almost 60 with a ton of mileage.

Evander is almost 60 years old and has been sitting inactive on the sideline for God knows so many years now. The difference between a 45-year-old and 60 is huge. Vitor isn't just a 45-year-old either, he's a juiced up seasoned veteran of combat sports

We all saw that video of Evander back in the gym after Mike Tyson was ready to make his return and he looked frail man

Evander obviously has the chin, experience, heart etc over Belfort. I really don't think the extra 20 lbs will be the difference in this fight. Vitor will have the youth, speed/reflexes and better conditioning despite him never being known for his cardio

180lb after dehydration. Like most MMA fighters there's no doubt Belfort would have been coming in 15 to 20 lb heavier.

Randy Couture was the HW champ at 46 years old in MMA, George Foreman was HW champ at 45 and lineal HW champ at 48 going into his fight with Shannon Briggs. Vitor is a little younger than those guys were. We've never seen anyone at nearly 59 fight at this level. If Evander pulls it off, it would be pretty amazing.
