Breakdown Woodley vs Maia and Masvidal.

Well we know that one of these guys are going to get the next title shot. Maia has been on a tear and probably should have already been given a shot, but we are where we are. Masvidal came out of no where and destroys Cowboy and puts himself in the mix. I am actually glad this match-up is happening, where a fighter actually has to fight a lot of different styles before he can get the title. If Maia keeps winning, it shows his champion mentality. More to it, this how I see these fights going down.

Woodley vs Maia
We all know exactly what Maia will try. He is going to shoot for the single and try to get on top. Good fucking luck with Tyron though. One of the best wrestlers in the division, who is also 5'9 and ultra powerful. There is always a chance that Maia gets it down in a scramble, but as long as Tyron is disciplined, he should shake off the TDs and eventually blast Maia on the feet, but don't follow him down. Land your shots and back away.

Woodley vs Masvidal
This match-up opens up more TD opportunities for Woodley, but Masvidal is crafty everywhere. His stand up is really fucking good, his TDD is insane. His scrambles and subs are also very very good. Tyron will probably be looking for the big punch. Masvidal will look to mix it up and I honestly could see Masvidal winning a UD or late round stoppage, I could also see Tyron landing a bomb early and close it out.

Agreed. I don't think people realize how much of a threat Masvidal is. Tough fights in this triangle for everyone.

I think twood beats maia, prob by ko. masvidal can give twood problems standing up, but i don´t see this one happening cause maia is going to strangle masvidal quick. the size and strength difference will play a huge factor.

It essentially comes down to Masvidal stopping the takedowns, if he does he will have this in the bag, however the same is true for Maia if gets the takedown and passes guard.

Masvidal´s tdd is very overrated imo. don´t get me wrong, he´s a great fighter but he has been taken down plenty of times. maia is very big and powerful at 170, and only rory and shields have been able to go toe to toe w/ him in the grappling department. Masvidal is not as good as those guys on the ground. However, if jorge keeps it standing, he will pick maia apart easy.

Good matchups. I could see it going either way in both fights.

Maia could pull off the submission, but Tyron is a strong wrestler and might be able to keep it standing. I'm not sure if Maia would be able to blast Tyron with singles or doubles just because of the speed/strength difference. Although Maia has been doing really well with not giving up on that single leg takedown or turning it into a double leg slide by if needed. I don't see Maia pushing Tyron against the fence and using his lateral drops and trips. On the other hand I could see Maia getting finished in the same way he did in the Marquardt fight.

Masvidal now seems to be a pressure fighter looking for the kill. He puts his combinations together really well with both his hands and feet. Masvidal tends to get tagged a bit, especially after his front kicks / turning side kicks. So Tyron could time him and blast him on the chin, but his chin seems to be holding up. Ellenberger really didn't land on him, and Cerrone was back and forth with him so in my eyes I'm still not sure on what he could take from the bigger hitters at welterweight. Hell, this could go like Marquardt vs Woodley going back and forth and the winner is whoever can keep the pressure on longer. On the other hand Marquardt was a middleweight and anyone who gets hit with that triple elbow combination would probably get KO'd. I really have no clue how this fight would end up going.

he got taken down pretty much by every one he faced, hes scrappy and is good at jumping back up, but maia wont let him up, that is where demian excels
