Great matchup, I think Royval does have a good chance though - he's only a few ranks higher than Perez but that top tier of FLW with Pantoja, Moreno, and Royval is on a different level

Yeah he beat Moreno

Yeah I totally forgot about that one. For some reason it seemed like he had more losses in the UFC, but I see now he only lost to Panoja and Moreno 1.

Also, I already forgot about that Tiara guy and his win over Perez.

Yeah you’re right, Moreno just stood in the middle and winged over hands that missed for 25 minutes
I also remember Royval landing 4-5 punch combos mutliple times completely unanswered, huge striking diff. in that one.

I dont think Taira is ready for this one. and I really really like Taira

I thought Moreno won (close fight though) but am not too upset about it because Moreno underperformed relative to his other fights
Personally I thought Royval dominated him and it wasn't close at all from what i remember
I missed that card unfortunately, only went back and watched Yair/Ortega 2. Most seemed okay with the decision from what I read

Looks like according to the stats, Moreno had more sig strikes in 1+2, while Royval had more in 3+4+5

I'd have to watch again to see if Moreno did more with fewer shots during any of those rounds, or if I was just wrong about who won

I thought it was a clear Royval win.

Royval might be ranked number 1 but I think Taira matches up well vs him. Standing Taira hasn't shown the same fluidity or dynamicism yet but he's technical and well schooled. On the mat his grappling is really brilliant and the takedowns will be there for him. It's a huge test but I think Kape, Tagir, Albazi, Moreno and maybe a couple other guys are arguably tougher fights for him. Taira is being brought up intelligently for sure. I hope he sinches gold and does Shavkat. It's time for Asian champs.

The MMADecisions scorecards are pretty interesting - R1+R2 strong Moreno, R3+R4 strong Royval

R5 is the deciding round and it's a toss-up with 53.4% of voters favoring Royval, and 45.8% favoring Moreno

Taira ain’t ready for Raw Dog Royval this will be a learning experience for him
