Media Brain Shaw says he’d beat Dustin in a real fight

This often happens with the strongman. The fighters are playful and only do grappling. Then the strongman feel they could beat anyone in the UFC.
Only Eddie Hall repeatedly talks about how his strength was next to useless against Tom Aspinall when they trained. Now of course Tom is heavier and closes the gap a little.

Yeah the same eddie hall who mighty mouse Said would beat him in a fight. Sure DJ is much smaller than Dustin, but brian is a bigger phenom than eddie

I have little doubt that larger fighters deal with brian, but I'm not sure about a 5'8 or 9 lightweight.

Also Tom aspinall is a fair bit taller than Eddie and actually very strong himself. Tom would rag doll Dustin very easily and play with him like a child, so bit different

Tom obviously would smoke shaw easily

Let's not pretend that Bob Sapp, the juiced-to-the-gills NFL washout, is anywhere NEAR as strong as Brian Shaw at ANY point in his fighting career. Even at Sapp's peak, Shaw is an inch taller, a HUNDRED POUNDS HEAVIER, and significantly stronger. Nog was also 6'3 ~240lbs.

While this is true, it also doesn't mean that prime Sapp wouldn't kick the shit out of Shaw in MMA. We really would have no idea until they fought, but I would guess that Sapp was big and strong enough where that extra weight from Shaw wouldn't be that huge of a deal. 330-430 is a lot different than 130-230.

Shaw vs Poirier would be like Oberyn vs the Mountain and could easily end the same way.

Well Martin couldnt do shit but Brian Shaw is like a 3 times world strongest man and 6,7 or something. If it did start standing I think Brian would be too slow and gas but wrestling DP would be in trouble.

Real fight?

Dustin ankle picks him and blasts him with head kicks once he’s down.

Hes 10000% right. All someone like Brian Shaw needs to do is pin someone down and hold him. Once they are grabbed it does not matter. Brian Shaw is so strong.
Four leg kicks from Dustin Poirier and this Brian Shaw dude would be on the floor crying

They can get extremely arrogant from grappling with much smaller opponents, but at their same time their ego is so fragile that they won't allow themselves the vulnerability of going against someone larger and getting humbled.

Shaw is the worst with this, in the same episode he basically says he can beat Tyson Fury and acts like him vs Ngannou is a competitive fight.

Hafthor and Shaw both made videos with Gordon Ryan, Hafthor was willing to roll with him and post the video while Shaw won't roll it at least show himself with anyone except LW Dustin.

Eddie and Martins Licis are probably the most humble because they've actually done grappling with larger opponents.
But this isn't ABOUT Shaw vs larger opponents. It's about him vs Dustin.

Like yes... Aspinall would win. He has a lifetime of skill that would close the size difference (still 150 pounds). But Dustin would get hurt

Yeah I agree with that. Hafthor would've killed McGregor too. Where it would get interesting is middleweights vs Shaw. I feel like prime Yoel kills Shaw but I'm not as sure with many other middleweights with less explosion/power/wrestling.

I swear, it's like so many of you guys haven't been paying attention to the fight game at all for the past 30+ years. Dustin would wreck Shaw in an actual street fight and it wouldn't even be close. This is what happens when an untrained oaf fights good pro fighters, regardless of size discrepancy. Damn near every time.

With some notable exceptions, of course. Cuz fighting will always have the element of unpredictability, particularly in an informal street environment.

But Big Brian would have the proverbial snowball's chance in this one cuz he is simply not a fighter and he's going up against an absolute killer.

Brain Shaws size disparity is huge lol. If Dustin is looking for a win it's going to be like a neck sub or running away until Shaw gasses out.

Naturally an untrain big guy will probably be looking to get a hold of you at close range

Brian Shaw isn't just some random untrained oaf. He's literally the strongest human on the planet. Real functional strength. As soon as he gets a hold of Dustin it's over, there's no jiu jitsu technique designed to get that gorilla off of you.

Well you called him an "oaf", so you're obviously biased

He literally isn't the strongest human on the planet, although I do agree it would be a nightmare for a guy Dustin's size to fight someone that big.

I suppose on the flip side Bryan Shaw is not a trained fighter and has never had a fight as far as I know. He might crumble as soon as he gets hit hard in the face.

On a side note, has anyone else noticed in these kind of videos that they don't seem to roll / spar with other heavyweights? Except Eddie Hall that is. I would like to see Bryan grapple / spar hard with another big guy to see what he can do.

Dustin is 5’9”, Shaw is 6’7” … if you ever spar with someone basically a foot taller than you, that chin is ridiculously far away between the height and the reach, which makes it very difficult to find and if you do it’s at the very end of your punches so without much power.

Imagine 5’9” Dustin fighting a 4’11” little kid, that’s about the size and strength difference.
Just say you don't train.. it's easier bud.

I know man. That would be like a 5'10 Mark Hunt KO ing some 7ft giant like Stephan Struve. No way it would ever happen
