Social Boy Scouts Will Drop the ‘Boy’ in Its Namesake Program, as It Welcomes Girls Next Year

"The Boy Scouts of America, in its continued effort to appeal to girls, announced on Wednesday that it would drop the “boy” from its namesake program next February. The century-old organization also said that it would start welcoming older girls, opening a door for them to earn the organization’s highest rank of Eagle Scout."

Pretty self explanatory here. The Title kind of says it all. Boyscouts are officially done. Thoughts?
 
My wife and I discussed this a few months ago.

Under no circumstances will our daughter be joining the Boy Scouts. I don't care what they change their name to, they're still the Boy Scouts.

If my daughter desires to have a scouting experience, she will join the Girl Scouts.
 
I still got my Pinewood Derby trophy. Well, second place. But I still have it,, and fuck the androgynous scouts.

I'm a bit upset to be honest. My son was in the boy scouts. Fuck this shit.
 
A couple hundred girls will sign up. A thousand boys will quit.

Well, if there are girls in their program then it makes sense. No?
 
On one hand Im like fuck cant boys have a spot where they go and learn stuff thats usefull and get away from the ladies and parents and stuff and just have that experience


But then I think the girl scouts are a bunch of cans and that the girls would learn more useful shit as boyscouts

But then I think about how in the 90s me and another kid talked about not believing in god and then not feeling so welcome any more and I think fuck em they deserve to be smacked with the progress bat.

I also remember those fucks in my troop not letting us name it the fox bats or the dragons and thinking democracy sucks

I also remember losing every year at the pine wood derby to kids whos dads worked for ford and gm and new bout that kinda shit and made super cars that kids with single moms were about to be beating

But I still learned a lot of useful crap and for the most part had a good time.


Why dont they just fold both in and call it the scouts and just go from there
 
I think "The Scouts" has a nice ring to it, but like most progressive thought I don't really see the need for it. Though, thinking on it, it might be a good way to teach younger boys how to socialize with and respect women instead of kind of being thrown into it when puberty hits. That's my positive spin.

Girl Scouts work on Marketing,sales and even STEM programs.

Girl Scouts don't want to release any of that cookie money.

Boy Scouts that I remember was never about raising money

If I remember correctly boy scouts is 13 and up. So they are actually going to be literally thrown into situations with girls just as puberty hits. IMO it would make more sense to have the scouts be the little kids, what is known as cub scouts as the gender mixed thing.
 
Maybe the Boy Scouts want to make some money and think this is the way to do it.

I would have liked to have more social interactions with girls when I was 13 so that it would have been less awkward when I was 15-16 trying to hit on them.

In my opinion, if they’re going to be competing for members and fundraising now, why not just merge and pool resources? It isn’t a secret that both groups are hurting.
