TJ's style in my opinion is more akin to that of Dutch kickboxing which if i could recall reading somewhere was influenced largely by Kyokushin karate as opposed to muay thai.

In terms of Thai specialist in MMA i really don't think Till is all that Muay Thai-esque other than the Thai tattoos. I think the most MT-esque fighter in the UFC is the recently retired Matt Brown.

Wow so the first legit muay thai instructor I had was actually teaching me a brazilian style kick. I always thought that traditional muay thai you bring the leg up and around but then again I was taught 3 different ways to throw a body kick (or roundhouse) including the snapping way, the straight leg kick up and around way, and the just flick the leg by different instructors.

MT in the west esp. in MMA gyms are so low key that they're open to marketing anything. If anything its kickboxing. Its like companies who create their own job positions and the role & responsibilities are completely different compared to the real market position

Most people call it Dutch Style kickboxing. I kind of use it even if they do not have direct lineage to the Dutch KB founders

There was a fellow on the Benavidez card who beat the shit out of Diakese. Very nice body kicks.
