Are we gonna get one? Is fight night from 2 generations ago really all we have ?

There's that one game that is still gonna be in Beta when the PS7 gets released, but other than that, yeah. Fight Night is all we got. TBH, I'm not even mad. Hard to improve upon perfection. I still play FNC, and it's as satisfying as ever.

I think it might be a victim of the times like a lot of game genres that were once popular but have disappeared. Games have become too expensive to make when there's not a large enough market to recoup the cost.

Just that Esports Undisputed game that looks great but is getting pretty average at best reviews, still not finished though, one of them games could be early access forever though.

My favorite is still Fight Night Round 3. One of the control configs in it has given me the best experience in a Boxing game making it feel real. They got rid of that control config in FNC so I can't get into it.

I've gotten the PS3 Fight Night games to run on RPCS3 with a ton of tweaking, but it's really only the quick fight mode that works and not much else. Still fun to pick up and play, haven't found anything else like it. I wouldn't really want a new Fight Night right now honestly, considering the current state of EA

That game is definitely taking forever, it looks good for what it is but I doubt it hits consoles. The devs pretty much ignore console questions from what I've seen.

Rumors are Fight Night will take priority after UFC 5 is out so maybe that down the road.

With the way VR is going these days, a solid VR boxing game could have serious potential to kick off a new genre.

I'm surprised EA doesnt have an active series. The new UFC looks awesome (has crazy injury detail and doctor stoppages now) and it would be awesome to see this tech for a boxing title.

I need to try to get FNR3 working on RPCS3. When I've tried in the past the menus were all glitchy and could never get into a fight. The PS2 version works perfectly emulated, just not graphically as nice as the PS3.

PCSX2 allows for texture replacements so maybe that running at 4K with upscaled textures would be the way to go.

Like 20 people still closely follow boxing these days. I don’t think the draw is there.

Surprised Jake Paul hasn’t released a boxing game

I wouldn't mind a new punch out...

Also, the Rocky games from the PS2/GCN/Xbox gen were a lot of fun.. solid mechanics.

Found this video interesting, gonna try out some of these that I haven't played before:

I've been playing some Fight Night 2004. While the graphics are dated the gameplay is pretty damn good. It's got the parry but not total slow motion unrealistic shit like Round 3 which was my main gripe with that game. The control options allow the right stick for blocking with face buttons as punches which is my preference.

Plus they have physics based knockouts which are hilarious and way more satisfying than the other games.

I had high hopes for ESBC/Undisputed but looks like that's never hitting consoles. Fight Night pretty much nailed it back in the day, EA should just add a new coat of paint over that foundation and release it, that franchise doesn't need to be rebuilt from the ground up.

I'd be fine with an upgraded FNC, just get rid of the annoying training games that were mandatory to progress. If I recall correctly, you were essentially forced to do them twice between each fight, and they weren't fun.

I'd prefer a system where you just select your training style and your stats are upgraded automatically (some older games did it this way). Then you're back in the ring.

Oh man it was a pain getting it to just let me do simple fights. Bouncing around like 10 different forums threads, YouTube videos, etc. and trying everything until some Frankenstein combination finally got it working enough to do quick play matches. Might be easier to just stick with one of the newer titles that run a bit more stable (even then, YMMV).

I highly recommend trying out Fight Night 2004 with PCSX2 latest Nightly build. At 4K it looks really good, especially with referee cam. I actually like the game play better than Round 3. I'm hoping someone makes some upscaled textures for it. Maybe I have to learn how to do it myself.

Also the Victorious Boxer games on PS2 are really good, I'm starting to get into them right now. They have better slipping and angling than the Fight Night series. Decent controls too.
