Boxing fans, NOW, is Mayweather better than Ali?

Mayweather's the best defensive fighter of all time.
 
Skillwise he would be on par but won't have the same great legacy IMO. Even with the Pacquiao win, but who knows maybe people will warm up to him eventually.
 
Have you watched Ali vs Young? Better yet, have you watched how Ali fought at 38 years old? (Though the latter IS an unfair comparison)
 
No. Ali's movement was on another level on how he slipped and rolled punches. Plus he actually squared up on his opponents. Actually lived up to the definition of a fighter.
 
He will be more appreciated when he is gone/retired rather than when he is reigning. Just like all the fighters in the past. Wouldn't put him above Ali though.
 
The thing people forget about Ali is that his peak boxing years was taken away from him by the U.S. government. He was literally behind bars for 4 years during his peak years, and still managed to accomplish all the great things he did. Imagine what he would have done had he not gone to jail.

no hes not better but hes the best of the past 15 years

personally roy jones is my fav fighter of the past 20 years
 
I would still rank Ali above Mayweather in terms of opposition and wins, but Mayweather is better in terms of skill.
 
No, fighting men who are slightly bigger than kids is not comparable to fighting men like Foreman or Frazier.

I wasn't alive then but I'm pretty sure he didn't go to jail
 
floyd will go down as the best defensive fighter ever but not the best fighter ever.
