Is this considered a foul? Do people lose points for it?

I am not a big boxing fan, just watch the big name fights, and to me the boxers grabbing onto each other repeatedly is just disgusting. Are there any refs who just don't stand for it at all and take a point for it?

Are there any fighters who are known for doing it, and hated for it? Or is it just part of "the game"?

You may lose points if it's excessive and it's used to stall the fight depending on the referee, but usually clinching does not result in losing points nor is it usually considered a foul most of the time as the fighters are just told to break and resume fighting.
As for fighters known to do it, Wladamir Klitschko clinches a lot on the inside and Ali used to do it a lot no others spring straight to mind but i'm sure there's more.

Ive noticed that when i watch froch fight, he holds the opponents head with one hand and punches with the other... is this illegal?

Yeah that's illegal, as a point of reference Ali got called up about it against Fraizer.
