Both Maia and Sheilds have six submission victories and zero submission losses.

But I still think Maia will squeeze out a third round submission.

My brain tells me to go for a decision victory to Sheilds, but my heart says Maia. Cos he's a beast.

Also "75% of Maia

Interesting. As is often the case, instead of a great ground exchange this will probably end in a KO/TKO.

Shields has looked awful since joining the UFC, I gotta go with Maia on this one.

Maia's BJJ skills are way better than Shields, Demian is just in another level

i think maia can both outwrestle and submit shields.

Honestly, Shields' style has been more like Fitch/Okami in recent years. He hasn't submitted anyone since 2009. He could probably submit some prelim guys in the UFC, but I don't see him finishing anyone who is gatekeeper level or better at WW or MW.

Going back to the Fitch/Okami comparison, Shields UFC stint may be on the line here. I didn't agree with Dana cutting either Fitch/Okami, but given that precedent, a Shields cut (if he loses) would make sense.

That is wrong Maia has 9 subs! Jake has 10! The difference being Jake has 36 fights Maia has around 20 his sub rate is better. Plus Maia has subbed better fighters! Maia's stand up is better! Jake will lose!

im excited for this fight, but it seems like grappler vs grappler always ends up being a sloppy stand up match.

As great as Maia is, I think Shields is too savvy to get subbed. Maia by decision.

I can't see any way this fight ends early. Both are phenominal on the ground, neither punch hard, and Shields has a very good chin. Personally, I see a clinch-fest with Shields getting the better of it en route to a decision.

Remember when Sherdog forum went ape shit after Maia Fitched Fitch?

If Maia Shields Shields, Sherdog forum will crash.

Cool, i hope one of them gets subbed.

An even more interesting statistic is that they both haven't submitted anyone worth their salt in years.

Maia's bjj career still counts. Just like Lesnar's amateur wrestling career still counts.

I expect neither of them to win or lose via submission.

Maia by decision.

Both will keep their submission records intact.
