Let's be honest here. It would take just one look at those long, skinny chicken legs before Frank would be licking his chops. Frank was just so damn explosive and seemed like he could throw a sub from any angle at any time (ask Kevin Jackson). The fact that Frank had some of the sickest leglocks of any fighter ever (outside of maybe his brother) would play right into his advantage.

Frank's grappling was world-class. He was great off of his back and was good about taking little to no damage from the guard (assuming that Bones could score the takedown). His ability to explode from his back and escape into scrambles are second to none in comparison to pretty much all of the greats that have ever fought.

Give me Frank via first round submission over Bones. He would have made it look easy...

Frank is one of my all-time favourite fighters and an absolute legend of the sport.

That said, NO.

19 yo Jones takes any version of Frank.

Corrected. 12 yo Jones probably had a bigger wingspan and was taller than Frank, and as we know that's all that matters...

With Frank being my favorite fighter all time, this is a poor matchup.. Frank rarely fought over 200lbs (vs. Lober 1 was the exception). Bones would have beaten Frank severely...

Apples to oranges, my friend. Everything's evolved: Cross training, strength training, nutrition, PED testing, $$, weight cutting, etc...

2 great fighters but from 2 different era's. Jones would beat Shamrock badly.

Frank in his prime would have been a handful for the current middleweight roster. I'd be very interested to see how a match beween him and Weidman would have gone down.

However, he would be a small-ish middleweight, and Jones is an unusually large light heavyweight. To have any chance at all he'd have to spam Imanari-style rolling leglocks.

The best Frank Shamrock that ever walked the earth would get mauled by Jones.... though the current version on Jon Jones seems rather content to win decisions so either 50-45 or late finish depending on if Frank sold out or just accepted the defeat.

The delusions are strong in this one. LMAO. Prime Shamrock struggled against Tito who was hardly well rounded. Jones would ruin Shamrock's life.

But how would Frank get Jones down, he could drop down for a leg like Shogun did, but he failed. Jones' takedown defence is no joke either.
