Romania’s economy outperformed the rest of the European Union last quarter as the government opted not to impose the kind of harsh lockdown that shuttered most of the continent.

Output not only grew from the previous three months, but surged more than 10 times what analysts had expected. The expansion of 5.3% puts it ahead of all other EU members to have reported data so far.

Romania has officially dodged a recession during the pandemic by only notching one quarter of economic contraction, between April and June. Despite struggling with one of the bloc’s widest budget shortfalls, it’s managed to boost public investments to the highest in a decade, buoying construction while IT remained strong.

Prime Minister Florin Citu hailed the fastest rebound in his country’s history.

PM Citu: V-shaped economy recovery, a certainty

"Romania's economy - performance that shatters apocalyptic estimates! In the fourth quarter of 2020, Romania's economy grew by 5.3%!!! A fantastic performance. The fastest recovery of the economy in history. We promised. We did it. We were right. The recovery of the economy in V, a certainty!," Florin Citu says on Tuesday.

"Together we managed to recover the economy and have this result. Romania performed in 2020 by 5% better than the initial estimates and on average by 2.5% better than all the estimates published by the international institutions, the European Commission, the rating agencies and the financial institutions," adds Citu.

The prime minister points out that 2021 is the year of reforms and investments.

"We do not stop here. This year is the year of reforms and investments. In this first term, of 4 years, I promise to put the economy on a path of sustainable economic growth and to create an economic milieu in which all Romanians have the chance to succeed," Citu also states.

South Dakota never shut down or mandated masks. Florida has also been going without mandates.

Places with tougher lockdowns and mask mandates faired no better than places with little or no mandates. But financially they will suffer for the mandates and totalitarian decisions of their political leaders.

False equivalence , they have Nosferatu blood to protect them .

Imagine thinking South Dakota will ever be better off than New York.

hows that relevant to his point that in places like new york economy is destroyed, crime is on the rise and ppl are leaving, while south dakota didnt experience much of it?

New York could stop business for the next 10 years and its people will still be better off than South Dakota.

Duh. How is this supposed to be surprising or meaningful?

It was never really doubted that commercial restrictions would hurt economic growth and that polities that refused them would outperform the rest in the short-term. Those countries will also suffer long term consequences from excess deaths. In Romania's case, they have like 2x the death rate of neighboring Ukraine.

Romania is one of the biggest puzzles in Europe, they had the biggest deficit in the EU after they decided to pay all the bills to the companies. Now their partners trust them.

Romania: Housing has just reached prices of the 2008 economic boom.

Apartments and houses have become up to 18% more expensive, although much has been built in the last year.

"I have not heard of bankruptcies, the real estate market has resisted. Many ensembles preferred not to throw homes on the market at ridiculous prices, but preferred to wait for better times, as we see this year, " Bogdan Ivan explained.

We will never find out about the real death rate of the non-EU countries. Ukraine is non-EU, like Russia, Belarus and others. Plus Romania has limited well the number of deaths, considering together with Poland in the East has probably the most immigrants (after Czech Republic). In/Out.

Makes sense.

The countries with the hardest lockdowns will take the longest to recover economically. With that said lockdowns are not one size fits all

so thats how lefties rationalize now their failed lefty policies?

by comparing global financial and business centers to rural south dakota?

Lies. There is no reason to believe Russias isnt accurate even using the enlargaed estimate it is still far below the US.

Health of the people and also genetics may be factors. We have no idea yet fully which people are most prone to ig

Places that did not shut down are doing better financially and don’t have as many Covid-19 patients. It seems like masks and locking people down helps spread it.

I'm not the one who started with dumb comparisons.

Lockdowns weren’t really necessary if people just wore masks, I believe places in Asia like Japan and Taiwan didn’t ruin their economy, but they wore masks.

But of course, in America, we treated fabric on the face with the same skepticism and severity as a hard lockdown.

This is the dumbest comment made this year which coming from you isn't surprising. South Dakota LOL. The state with the lowest population density but has the highest case count per 1 million and 7th highest deaths per 1 million. I know 10 year olds who are smarter than this.

You spazz about Corporate America and how the Communist Dems are doing their bidding while you are arguing their profits are more important than your mom's life. You are a sick fuck.
