I mean, everyone likes blacking out every now and again but this is a little excessive lol. We don't use any A/C at our gym (like most other gyms I imagine) so it's been getting around 90 on a regular basis with a humidity that might as well be precipitation. Lately I've been rolling with more intensity and tonight all we did in class was rolling. I'm getting exhausted which is completely normal for this amount of rolling but I'm blacking out at least once a class. Not to the point of unconsciousness but to the point that I should probably stop walking due to fear of bumping into something. I seem to be pretty hydrated and consciously I feel fine, my vision just cuts off for a bit. Has anyone had this experience? Do I have Aids? I fully expect the best medical advice from the Sherdoctors on this forum.

I get to the almost "pass out" stage regularly. I just take a break and sit on the ring or lay down somewhere. I never really black out.

Just get your vitals checked. (BP, HR,) Diet, Rest, hydration, stress, all play a factor.

...Oh yeah, I am not a doctor... ;-)

yeah man same here.. ive been going harder lately and i get to that ALMOST stage.. I just slow down from there and just play dead while rolling.

My last roll i was so exhausted i dont remember anything that happened other than that i one moment im on my knees, the next i have a RNC from back mount, from which i gassed and lost it too lol

But yeha, you dont have aids.

Try drinking a little bit of gatorade or powerade during class.

Ya, you have AIDS, lay off the gay sex and dirty needles for a while and it will cure itself.

I also found drinking Gatorade before class helps a lot with that. Unless I roll too many consecutive rounds I'm usually fine.

Well, we did about 14-15 consecutive 2 or 3 minute rounds so that may explain things a bit. On a side note I wonder if Gorgenflex got the ban for that one.

I've never blacked out and I've done a load of consecutive 2-3 minute matches, they gas you hard but help you a lot in the long run.

It'd be a shame if he did get banned for that because I lol'd.

I usually get the feeling when intensely scrambling during one of those all-rolling classes. When I'm smoking that is... As soon as I quit the ciggies - give it a week and woilla, no more black blankets before my eyes :) I guess it has something to do with the blood circulation - therefore the supply of oxygen.

That's what we do every day where I train, between drills but before free rolling. We partner up and one guy tries his best to pass guard while the other guy tries to sweep. Then after 2 or 3 minutes you switch. We do this for half an hour, it's killer.

It makes you learn to pace yourself a bit more and helps your cardio/technique.

Strange. I'm pretty old and have bad cardio when compared to most of the guys I train with, and I've never experienced anything like this at all. Is it common?
    Good.

lots of places have AC. It is ridiculous and dangerous if they don't. they need to stop being cheap fuck and turn it on (i am talking about academies in US)

lol! my coach always says "today the sauna is free!"

but seriously, it hast been at least 90 degrees the past 6 weeks here, and we dont use the AC when rolling, so it gets well above 100 degrees in the gym. On friday, it was 101 outside when I left the gym, and I remember walking outside and saying to my girlfriend 'omg it feels so good out here!'
it was around 110 in the gym...

never felt close to blacking out though :icon_neut
