A former Bridgeport police officer who claimed someone left a racist memo on police letterhead in his mailbox at headquarters in February admitted to writing the letter himself and has been charged with filing a false report, according to police.

Former Officer Clive Higgins reported that he found a racist hate letter in his police mailbox the morning of Monday, Feb. 9 and feared for his life because of it.

The letter, printed on paper marked with the department's official letterhead, started off with "WHITE POWER" and went on to say "Officer Clive Higgins doesn't belong here in this Police Department" and "These Black Officers belong in the toilet."

This just makes me sad. It perpetuates hatred, and makes it harder to believe the person that actually gets hate mail/threats. Disgusting.

lol

He probably did not know any letter can be traced to the exact printer as every printer prints identifying microscopic dots on every page. They probably traced it right back to him.

"State police were called in to investigate and reviewed surveillance from the station, which they said showed Higgins typing and printing documents just before going into the room where he said he found the letter."

Ouch. Pretty poor scheming skills, and from a cop nonetheless.

Lol. Least convincing hate mail ever. It wasn't even enthusiastic.

"WHITE POWER....."

What's with the ellipses? Weren't sure about it?

Cops. LOL. Seriously.

He's still the real victim. If it wasn't for white people he wouldn't have written that letter.

Hope you're happy, progressives.

I didn't even see that. He tried printing it out at work? That's some genius level work there! Even if he had waited they would have traced it to the computer and then checked the video. What an idiot

in connection with larger BLM/SJW trends, this kind of fits, but the real background on this is that higgins got off while two other officers plead guilty to excessive force in connection with the beating of a suspect in custody.

meaning, the purpose of faking the letter was much more likely to be in connection with office politics, union posturing, etc., than the usual attention-seeking leftist hysteria about race.

also, other than shoe-horning "WHITE POWER" into the opening and closing, the letter itself isnt particularly racist.

Yeah, that's embarrassing on many levels. I actually feel bad for him.

Honestly he seems borderline retarded, which makes you wonder what the testing standards are for that police department.

Exactly. Black people are always the victim. In any situation.

How can someone in law enforcement be this bad at being a criminal? :icon_lol: He should have went old school and cut the letters out of a magazine or newspaper.

I don't know if this is a myth, and not to offend any police officers here, but I heard that police departments do not want to hire anyone that is too intelligent, as they need people who don't question everything and are more inclined to simply do as they're told.

I have nothing to back this up, so I don't know if it's completely false or not.

I remember back in the day seeing a lawsuit filed by a police department applicant who was rejected because he scored too high on the test. The department claimed that people who were too intelligent would not be able to handle the boredom and routine of the job, and that's why they dinged him.

So there may be some truth to this.
