The thing is bellator lets the tournament format dictate the matchups just like any other major sport with their playoff format. The ufc could do tournaments easily or have ever card headlined by the fights fans want to see ie jones-gus 2, diaz-hendricks, overeem-cain, overeem-jds etc. But they would rather put barrao vs dillishaw instead because baro makes 10kish to fight and dillashaw is probably the same.

What is it with you guys and these fucking tournaments ?

There's no UFC PPV I would pay for, too much filler. That said, there's free Bellator events you couldn't pay me to watch. Unless someone can figure out how to 'fix' it, MMA is going downhill.

It's better for the fans and the fighters to know what's next, regardless of what DFW is thinking of you.

And fans will cry less, because fights are less likely to be set up to answer these demands.

Bjorn is missing the fact that most of these mid term fighters on these supposed less than stellar PPV cards would probably win all of his tournaments in Bellator.
Being a mid level fighter in UFC a lot of times > then being a top fighter in Bellator.

Nope, nothing wrong with that at all over the short term. The problem is that it in no way can correlate to long term gains. It's a cheap pop which in theory works over the short term. TNA thought "hey we've got these established faces on our product, we'll get some new fans to tune in!" and were just never able to turn that into paying customers.


Now is that going to be Bellator's problem? We'll see going forward. Tito vs Rampage is still a money fight for most people, I'd assume.

TNA has the same problem bellator does. Their production value is incredibly low.

Look at when WCW took on WWE they succeeded because they sunk the money into the production as well as the people.

Bellator needs to work on its production. All of it, announcers, lighting, arena, cameras, production staff. All of it is sub par.

They need to increase their budget and they need to pay to steal key people who have built successful production elsewhere.

You can pump all the money you want into stars(like BionicCommando said with tna) and it wont do shit all if you dont back it up with top notch production.

Say what you want about the UFC but their production is consistently some of the best in sports entertainment period.

I think their production is good enough already but I would like to see them throw on a couple of the better prelim fights onto the televised cards rather than commercials when they have some time to kill between fights. Obviously they cant go commercial free but they can take the hit on a couple commercial spots per card to slip in a 2 minute prelim ko or sweet sub.

Another thing they could do is ditch the casinos and use 10,000 seat hockey arenas etc. And tour around to places that the ufc probably wont come to. Halifax, st johns, quebec city, hamilton, kingston, winnipeg, saskatoon, regina, lethbridge, cranbrook, kelowna, victoria etc. would be some stops in canada that would probably get good turnouts and turn fans on to the brand. The reason I said ditch the casinos is Im not sure if kids can go see those cards and imo you should make it is kid/entire family friendly as possible.

Another thing is engaging people on a more personl level. While youre touring around you can stop into small towns and have meet'n'greets with the fighters, do an open workout at the mall, and stuff like that. People remember that kind of stuff

My mistake, what tournament did Chandler win for his last fight? Didn't Bjorn just say Chandler might get the night title shot as well, despite losing his last 2 fights?
