Besides Renzo and the Machado branch, what are the other options?
thanks

Ronin SBG, Alliance, and a couple of more but I forgot their names.

why rule out renzo's and machado's school?! those would be my absolute first schools on my list.

I agree, though I would be interested from hearing from some guys with experience at these places.

All the schools are good. Some people can't afford the price of Renzo's. I can't say they'll benefit more from any school. All the schools are ran by people with credentials and skill. Granted Renzo's might be one of the top 3 school's for BJJ in america. But not everyone wants to do BJJ as a sport or gives a shit.

Holy shit are his classes expensive or what? Jesus christ.

I checked out fabio school, real hot location 13 st and 3 ave. right by union square, the classes are small and fabio and his asst. BB teach all the classes. I liked it but i judt did not like the vibe fabio gives you. Not very friendly and talks to you as if your just a business man.

I did not check machado out but i owuld like to find out more about them like thee prices and how big are the classes?

Renzo is Renzo you ant get better than a Gracie!!! But his prices are ridiculous, les be honest!!!

I been to the SBGi and was not impressed!!! I feel 130 month for a BJJ purple is a haf price to pay, put a few bucks more and you have awesom BB trainers all over the city. There stand-up I hear are very basic and thee grappling is mediocore.

These are just the plces i checked out everyone might get a diffrent impression when they check it out themselves

Soid

can you tell me about renzo' place? How big are classes? How long are classes? Is there rolling for white belts? Are there packages to do wrestling thai and BJJ ? hook up some info. I heard there are no more Punching bags up there and they took down the ring?

zenshin sounds like you have been everywhere. Did you have to pay for intro classes or were they free?

free at some and others I just watched... Problem I have is I know grappling is needed, I have been training Muay Thai for years but grappling not my thing so if I do train anywhere it has to be a good fit for me, that is why I checked everyone out in the city that I know of. I still have not joined any grappling gym yet everytime I'm about too I just go train more thai boxing to avoid it lol

yea im also looking for a school in new york, we should compare notes

accually I just got back from Brooklyn wrestling club in mid wood. Excellant club excellant trainer Yuriy Velinsky he has 41 years of wrestling experiance he coached guys in the 76 and 80 olympic games to gold medal out of Russia.Best kept secret in brooklyn!!! The class was hard and alot of drilling, thee are a lot of guys who come there with judo, ju jitsu, college wrestling experiance and a lot of boxers come out of there. Since I had a positive experiace with it I would love to drop thai boxing and do BJJ and wrestle

Hey man! Drop the directions to the wrestling club in BK. I live in BK and would love to compliment my BJJ with wrestling.

Renzo's white belt class is fucking huge as of now. You have 6 black belt professors (Gordinho, Renzo, Igor, Rolles, John, Ze) and awesome browns who help teach or sometimes teach. Come on look at Gregor Gracie, tapped out Mike Fowler and toyed with him while recently getting his brown. Then you got instructors like Magno who are very technical and watch the mats carefully.

The only thing I can say that you might not like is the fact that with TUF, so many guys are signing up everyday and sometimes the class is overcrowded. I've always gotten great attention (more than needed hehe) and there are blues in the forum that cvan testify that the got awesome attention.

But like I said, all schools in NYC are great in their own right. I went to the Machado Academy one time and they treated me great and the price is nice.

Remember, pick the academy you felt the best atmosphere at.

I let my mom choose the academy and she chose the best for me. Plus all the guys I train with are better and offer me advice and help.

Soid how old are you?

It is hard to give up the best kept secret in brooklyn, I am not sure that I can do that, sorry
