Hey i have an oppurtunity to train in Matt Serra"s BJJ Academy. but it cost $160 dollars a month. is that a reasonable price or is it to much. heres the website http://www.serrajitsu.com

Thank You

It is a bit lower than the average for NYC, plus with Serra new found fame from the UFC reality show not a bad price, but for 20 bucks more you can head down to the east village and train with marcello garcia.

Serras academy and Marcelo Garcias school are quite a bit away from each other......I train at Serra's and I can say from experience its worth the price. You are not gonna find better instruction and the people there are great....if you want to know anymore specifics just PM me i'd be happy to answer ne questions. Arite...hope to see you on the mat.

How often does Serra actually instruct (not including the time he was away for TUF 4, obviously)?

I recently attended a seminar with Serra in NC, and it was one of the best I've been too in a while...he definately is a great teacher, and is very good at instructing the fine details of technique. I would say, worth the money....plus, I've seen BJJ schools down here in NC more expensive.

From watching this season of TUF I come away with the impression that he is awesome as a corner man too!

Serra Teaches everyday when hes home...and hes at open mat on sundays....He is there whenever he possibly can be. ANd yes he is an excellent corner man and teacher!

It's high for where I'm from but for NYC it's pretty reasonable from what I hear. (especially if you actually get to learn from Serra himself)
