BJJ + Powerlifting = competition wins

Did you get schooled :D?

Haha, well this was my purple belt instructor who runs most of the business side of the school (still great bjj). NOT my brown belt head instructor that has been a brown belt for 6 years...haha. So I didn't get "schooled" He tapped me once to a wierd crank that somehow i got caught in (you'll see in the video) But normally we're pretty competitive :D

1/26/13

Deadlifts: 175x5, 225x1, 295x1, 340 2x6 (these were rough.)
Bench: 135x5, 160 5x5
Split ISO holds: 5x45s*

*note to self...split holds after deadlifts...not a good idea.

1/28/13

1hr BJJ

hang power snatches: 95x2, 125 5x2, 135 3x1
Klokov PP: 145 3x4
Squats: 135x5, 185x5, 225 5x5**

Box jumps: Waist level 10x1, solar plex level 5x1

**Just getting back into squats, felt no pain in my shin whatsoever which felt awesome (assuming I don't feel it tomorrow) But unfortunately, whether it's just having been a month from squatting or the slight technical adjustments I made to my squat. this 225 5x5 felt like the last 275 5x5 I did... which sucks :\ Hopefully that strength'll come back quickly.

Also on a better note, the power snatches felt absolutely great. Everything just felt powerful and extremely easy, and just "snapped" into place.

Another 1hr BJJ tonight...I"m exhausted...completely

You ran home right?:icon_chee

Hah, no definately not.. Still not used to having to wake up at 6:30 for classes, then training for 3.5 hours with a little amount of food did me in..lol

Also doesn't help that I strained my knee a bit, and popped my hip (which is sore as hell this morning) doing wrestling yesterday morning :(

Ohh i know that feeling, go to gym first thing in the morning and work your ass off. Last time i ate was last night = after workout is done, i walk to the toilet and throw up.
Few times was ehough for me :)

Ouch lol, Well I almost always lift on an empty stomach. I by FAR prefer doing that than if I eat something first lol. And I"ve never once thrown up during a work out, through football practices in middle school, baseball in highschool, and kickboxing/bjj after. Not once. ...I've almost passed out from exhaustion, but that's besides the point :icon_lol:

1/30/13

1hr 15 mins ~ BJJ

Hang power cleans: 135x1, 155 4x2, 165 4x1
Jerks: 165x2, 185 5x2
Squats: 185x5, 225x1, 245x1, 275x1, 295x1**

I'm so unbelievably sore from squatting on monday, even with that light weight... LUckily the weights did feel lighter today even if today in general felt like Hell. Focusing on letting my knees drift a bit farther forward, and staying as vertical as I can out of the hole... My quads hate me right now.

Its funny really, either drinking too much or hard workout on empty stomach
30 seconds before puking i know its gonna happen, almost puking on command. so i just calmly walk to the toilet and do it. then go eat when i have been working out.

Haha, wow. Yea i've never been to that point lol :p A friend of mine though did something similar (although this was during a shroom "trip" he was on at the time lol.) He simply said... "i have to throw up" Calmly stood up, and walked over in the yard to behind the garage. And just threw up. then calmly walked back and sat down. Was the wierdest shit lol.

1/31/13

Hang power snatches + OH squat: bar x warmup, 95 x warmup, 135 2x1+2, 145 2x1+1, 155 1x1+1, 1x0, 1x1+1

Bench: 165lbs 5x5
KB rows: 80lbs 3x8

Was planning on doing hang full snatches, but my balance was so off in the hole from not doing them for over a month. I said fuck it. I failed a couple in a row at 135 (just from losing balance). And did power snatches + OH squats to work back into that.

2/1/13

Snatch balances: 115 2x4, 135x4, 145x4
Snatch high pulls: 115 2x3, 145x3, 165x3, 175x3
Snatches: 115 2x3, 135x3, 165x1, 115x3, 125x3, 135x3.
Squats: 165x5, 185x5, 225 2x4, 255 4x3

I"ve got a coach who'se a lot closer to home now, that will be able to work with me much more regularly than the other one. And he'll also be helping me on programming and such. So hopefully this'll be a very good thing.

So this is what my new coach had me write down for a program as of now. And he'll be changing it as needed as I progress, etc..

Squats: 135x5, 185x3, 225x5, 245x5, 255x5, 265x5, 275x5

Squats finally feeling a little bit stronger...it's rediculous how much strength I feel like I lost in my squat after just a month off... Jerks with sets of 5 was definately a new experience lol.

2/11/13

1hr BJJ

Snatch pulls: 95x5, 115x5, 145x5, 155x5, 165x5
Snatches: 65x3, 95x3, 115x3, 135x3, 145x3 (new pr!) 145x1, 155x1, 165x1 (almost 95% of my max, felt pretty easy)

Snatches have been feeling much better lately. I'm still jumping forward a bit, but the bar it self isn't going forward...so I'm jumping in front of the bar...Yea, I"m retarded. Either way. Feeling better! Have videos of the 3 singles should be up later.
