Trumpet Dan, BJJ Scout and Jason Scully's youtube channels have done more for my game than instructionals recently.

How about Ryan Halls arm triangle and back attack sets? Personally I would rather put the money I would spend on instructionals into a site like mginaction or mendesbros

Yea I would check out bjj library over DVDs in my opinion it's much cheaper and you get at least a 2 week free trial

BJJ instructionals is quite vague. Is there a certain area of your game that you want to improve? If so, there would be instructionals that could help fill that part of your game.

well i'm open to anything - granted im old, play full/half/and occastionally half guard.

I dont pull guard, I try to get the take down (throw - with my primitive judo skills) and try to pass.

my favorite players are marcelo, roger, rodolfo. Though I do really appreciate Cobrinha and I appreciate the mendes/meow style - though I never play it.

*so in short I like to try new things - though I may never even use it very often.

I mentioned the baseball bat choke dvd because my guard sucks and I like the idea of catching someone as they pass - been playing around with the choke but keep getting arm-barred.

Unless the dvd you want is on sale right now, why not do as many free trial periods on the sites you're interested in and then decide?

In terms of content/organization there is a pretty clear hierarchy among BJJ paysites.
    Tier one: MGinaction
    Tier two: BJJLibrary, MendesBros
Tier three: AllGalvao, Cobrinha, JJM, probably missing a few here
Tier four: Cyborg's/that nogiworldchampion group's garbage.

Is Cyborg's site really that bad?

    Why?

Theres also Mastering the System by Eddie Bravo. Its not laid out that well, in comparison to something like MGinaction however its $5 a month. Pretty good for the price, especially if you like the 10th planet game.

i only have two dvd sets, and find them boring to watch. one is the rubber guard dvd by eddie bravo, and the other one is the basic curriculum gracie barra dvd. the gracie barra one is pretty dry, but it is full of useful information.

You should really check out Ryan Halls dvd's, they're really conceptually focused. Not just here is a technique, here is another technique etc. But rather here is a concept or principle and it applies here and here. Demian Maia's sets are also good in this regard.

I honestly have to say as a guy who owns over 100 bjj dvd instructionals. I don't even watch them anymore with the wave of online content. Many of the DVDs are outdated compared to the online instruction that are updated daily.

I say subscribe to a site like the mendes brother's, or Caio Terra. Just my two cents.
