anybody know of any good bjj schools in chicago to train?

also about what the average tuition is in the area.

Everyone is going to promote their own academy. Where do you live (or are you visiting)? The Chicago people can recommend academy's that are close and you can try a few out and see which one you like.

Then you can make up your mind at end up at one of Carlsons gyms =)

lol at the subtle self promotion. best answer is always the same every time this exact thread pops up every 6 months: try out as many as you can and see which ones you liked the most. start narrowing down to location, schedule and price after that. bbjinchicago is a great site with lots of reviews.

like others said, bjjinchicago.com is your best resource.

in my opinion, Valko BJJ on the corner of Chicago and N. Orleans (inside Hi Fi Fitness). Excellent instruction, top notch partners, welcoming atmosphere...and oh yeah...they have a D1 All American teaching Thursday night wrestling and a distinguished Judo player teaching Judo classes.

most gyms in Chicago are in the $100-$200 per month range.

Uflacker and Barra Country side are your closest schools to where you live. I'd check them out and see if they fit your schedule. Unless you work or go to school in the city and would like to train close to there. than your options become nearly endless

But of course I have to self promote MOTA MARTIAL ARTS! I'll bet we're the best bang for your buck ;)

Carlson Gracie just opened a gym on Wabash. Carlson Gracie Jr. just moved back from California and teaches there. Chicagommatraining.com

We are located in that area as well. Force BJJ: FORCE Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

I usually train at New Breed in Chicago when I visit Chicago. Their instructors and fighters are great to work with. I really felt I learn a ton from them whenever I'm in town. Highly recommended!

I'm the senior editor at BJJinChicago - Covering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Chicago and Northwest Indiana and if you read the site, you'll see a TON of gym reviews and interviews with local instructors. The information is not complete (and never will be with the rate the sport is growing), but I hope it's helpful for you.

But like everybody said above, most people just promote their own academy. In fact, the ENTIRE reason I started BJJinChicago was because of threads like this. So, like I said, I really hope its a helpful resource for you.

New Breed Niles would be a hike for him. Old Town could be an option depending if he comes into the city for work or anything
