BJ talked about his routine and dietin Black Belt Magazine. I skimmed through it at Walgreens, here's what he said:

-For training he says he's done it all, he's done 6 hours a day (which is what burned him out for GSP supposedly), he's also done 100% for one hour a day every other day. Now he trains in the gym at 6am for like 3 hours and then sleeps all day and returns for the gym at night for one hour.

-For conditioning he talks about keeping your heart rate above 75% by doing this like running up hills, biking, ect... Lots of emphasis on running sprints. He mentioned plyometrics and nothing else really for strenght.

-He says he stretches for 30-minutes before going to bed. Doesn't stretch before he trains, just warms up and sometimes stretches after training if he's not too tired.

-He eats only organic foods, no processed. He drinks a shake in the morning, works out and then eats an orange to bring his insuline back up. Another meal would be brown rice with egg whites or chicken breasts with vegtables.

-When it comes to losing weight and cutting for a fight he said everyone knows if you cut carbs and fat "you'll be looking good in no time". Also stop eating sodium because it makes your body store water. He drinks a lot of water.

i cant even pay attention because of your avatar eggsauce. WOW i love adriana lima!

nothing really special in terms of his diet or training routine...

I pretty much do the same and work ten hours a day.

I'm definitely going to take conditioning and dieting advice from BJ. He never gasses.

Some fighters just don't lift weights I guess. A guy like Matt Hughes really relies on his weight lifting and strength.

I'll bet he wouldn't have to cut weight at all if he was simply awake more than 4 hours a day.

Im sorry i wouldn't listen to BJ about anything to do with diet and conditioning, for an elite fighter he hasn't got either in check

Ju jitsu and fighting in general, then yeah BJ would be valuable

It's good to hear that he's taking things seriously now.

I remember when he said.....

"My diet is like Atikins, but with the carbs...."
"Burritos are my life."

"My diet is like Atikins, but with the carbs...."

That was for his fight with Machida where he had to gain a ton of weight. I'm still waiting to pass judgement on him. He claims he overtrained for GSP and there's evidence of him tearing muscles during the Hughes fight so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't remember him gassing real badly at 155; maybe Pulver.

he's going to kick pulvers ass. but anyway, i gotta go and check that out.

BJ did go the full 25 minutes vs Uno in a fight that IMO he won.

"He says he stretches for 30-minutes before going to bed"

dam, i've never stretched that long before
