BJ Penn was thought to be one of the best ever. He fought Machida, beat Hughes moving up a weightclass, and definitely looked as good at LW as any champion right now in their own respective weight class.

But, strangely enough, very few of his fans are left over who still holds him even half as highly as they have done before. He did lose a couple in a row, but it's almost as if his bandwaggon just went off the cliff and everyone on board got thrown out in the middle of air. In comparison, Fedor lost three in a row, but it doesn't look like his bandwaggon went off track even slightly.

Where are you BJ Penn Fans? Fight to the death, he will think I'm God himself, motivated Penn is coming. Where you at?

I never jumped off. Even when Edgar dominated him and positivebalance lost his mind. Even when Rory and Nick Diaz wrecked his shit. Hell, even when GSP dominated him in their second fight.

    Not going anywhere.

I started following MMA avidly around the time BJ was dominating the lightweight divsion, and he was instantly my favorite fighter.

I think Penn KO'ing Hughes in the rubber match was the most excited I've ever gotten for a finish

the bandwagon fans left. you know why? cuz that's what bandwagon fans do.

he had a great career from 2001-2009. he wasn't as good as GSP. since 2010 his career was not great.

Gomi - at one time chosen to share the top spot on Sherdog as best p4p fighter in the planet with Fedor. Only other fighter to do so other than Anderson and Fedor in recent memory

It was going to take a shitload to derail his minions, but it DID happen. When you talk so much ridiculous shit, and get totally embarrassed so many times over, it really has no choice but to crash. And it did.

The type of organized support BJ got was like nothing I've ever seen. It was basically a religion.

You'll see a few stragglers hanging around, but it's a fraction of what it was.

And BJ folded him up and threw him in the trash because BJ's a better fighter everywhere.
