This is a matchup I haven't heard anyone talk about (and it makes sense because of Lyoto's current placing/rank in the division) It is a fun discussion to have though. We all saw Bisping struggle his ass off with old man Dan, but Machida is also far away from his prime at this point. Now, if they were to fight for the title in 3 months who would you pick at this point?

I'd still say Machida would mess Bisping up. Machida might not be able to take damage well but Bisping does not hit like Romero or GNP like Rockhold. I'm not sure Mike would be able to take Machida down. I'd put my money on Lyoto becoming MW champ by decision, fairly easy.

Then again, there are at least six people in the MW division I'd easily choose to beat Bisping at this point. I might be a hater.

Bisping and it's not even close.

I disagree, I think Machida's striking is still pretty sharp and Bisping would have a lot of trouble with it. Not sure who would win but I think it would be close.

Hard to say. Now. I'd actually take Bisping. He'd win on volume. Machida has fallen down hill shockingly.

Who knows what Machida looks like now, he still only loses to the elite of the elite, i would like to see him return and fight a top 10 guy.

prime machida would toy with the count...decision him if not worse. today would be a bit difrent but would still go for machida

Bisping would knock Machida out.

i would pick anyone in the Top 15 over Bisping, or hendo.

Granted i keep picking wrong, but sooner or later his son and i will be right.

Right now it's a toss up being the dragon is on a decline, but I'm not sold on bisping.

Machida. He fought too often after a couple of bad losses this break will help a lot. That's if he comes back.

I think Machida takes it without much issue. He seems to have lost a little speed, but still a tough fight. IIRC, he and Romero were 1 round each when the finish happened, and that fight was way too soon after Rockhold landed that nasty elbow on the ground that concussed him. He also had a good fight for the belt just 2 years ago, even though he just gave away the first half of the fight and didn't show up until the 3rd.

Come to think of it, Lyoto has had some serious trouble with elbows. The elbow from Jones opened up that horrible gash that was the beginning of the end, standing elbow from Weidman was the most hurt he was in the fight, the elbow from Rockhold sealed that fight, and Romero put him out with elbows.

Prime Machida would knock out Bisping, and make him look amateurish.

Today, Machida might win.

Machida is much more talented than Bisping.

declining machida takes the belt from prime bisping - UD if the champ is lucky.. deus ex machida
