For the people here that say it isn't anything, do you guys realize that people are still spending time behind bars for this? If everyone who had a talk show started to occasionally smoke weed on set, it would normalize things and weed would be legal federally in a very short period of time. I can't think of a greater protest against weed laws then just showing everyone that you can handle being high, have some fun, and all without causing a bunch of problems.

It's a symbolic gesture, which I appreciate. He is not Anderson cooper, he is a comedian first. I don't think he needs to be more professional than whatever level he sets for himself.

So many people sit in jails for nothing more than relaxing. It's insane. At least he does more than just smoke on tv. He is actually active in trying to get laws changed in this country. At least in regards to weed. Tired of people's lives being ruined for just some green.

so Friday nights episode of real time ended with Bill Maher smoking a joint and sharing it with some of his guests. I was a little shocked and don't know if this has ever been done before but haven't heard much buzz about it. So my question is , is this a big deal or in 2016 ? Or have we just realized that this is no different than someone drinking a beer?

That's exactly what we all need to realize. People need to kind their own god damn business and let others enjoy harmless shit like this. Smoking a joint should be no more shocking than someone smoking your standard nasty smelling cancer stick.

Ironically, I think he wanted to create controversy, but got the "who cares?" response he's been rallying for.

I like Maher, but I don't get the point. There is still a line professionals should walk. Booze is legal, but you don't see Anderson Cooper taking a swig of JD on the air, just because he can. It just comes off as immature.

It's HBO, the home of Real Sex, Pornucopia, Hookers at the Point, Cathouse, Sopranos and a slew of other supposedly vulgar shit. Who cares?

Yeah I agree. Texas is a retarded state. The only good thing about it is the weather (I hate long winters) and the low cost of living. Supposedly were close to marijuana legislation though. I don't know how true that is.

All the polls show a majority of Texans support legalization. In fact, some polling has shown that as few as 25% oppose legalization. Its the Texas politicians that stop it.
