Biggest skid a fighter has ever recovered from?

Machida an invincible force? How did yo type that without laughing your ass off

You must remember what the boards where like back then Machida was undefeated and had just KO'd Thiago Silva and created the ShadFace.

Everyone was proclaiming it was the 'Machida Era' and he would reign for years to come because he was an 'elusive unhittable puzzle that can't be solved'.

Sherdog had found their new Messiah until the Shogun fights.

Oh come on, at the time, everyone thought Shogun was getting his ass handed to him and Anderson was adding to the hype train "he kicks my ass in training" and had beaten wrestlers. strikers and grapplers and was undefeated.

How was he not a seemingly invincible force at the time?

Also, the correct answer to the question was Tim Sylvia.:icon_lol:

Key is, "at the time". Also that Mir comment was golden :icon_lol: the word "skid" took a whole new meaning.

bj penn lost to edgar a couple times, then diaz, and then rory. he decided to retire then he came back to reinvent himself as a FW and dominated edgar then starched aldo to take the belt and steamroll a top p4p fighter

Shogun by far. After his loss to Forrest he disappeared and people wrote him off. He came back vs Coleman and looked abysmal. He had a solid showing against Chuck, but given Chuck's state at the time it was hard to gauge it as that great of a win. Then he pretty much beat Machida twice who at that time seemed like the most invincible force in MMA and became the champ.

Maybe fair weather fans wrote him off.

Not even fair weather fans. I was rooting for him but given his recent performances compared to Machidas recent performances (at that time) it didn't even seem close. Shogun was choked out by Forrest, had a close fight where he looked bad against Coleman and Machida was on a tear. Who woulda thought?

But no doubt Shoguns better days are behind him. Watch the Chuck fight and see the way he moves compared to now. Half his footwork and speed are gone.

No bullshit but I thought he would be machida. Machifa wasn't going to make it a grinding fight so shogun didnt have to worry about cardio and shogun had the speed and chin to deal with machida striking. To me, Forrest and coleman were knee surgery recovery fights and chuck was proof he had recovered. Shogun gained a ton of new fans via highlights for his debut and then instantly gained naysayers with the Forrest loss.

Too bad it turns out that Machida has a terrible chin. He'd might still be champ if he could take a punch at all.

lol @ people saying struve and kos

travis fulton by far

Lol @ you obviously misunderstanding the OP.

The answer is not Travis Fulton, not even close. He's never lost more than 2 fights in a row. Hardly a bad "skid." On top of that, his career never really went anywhere so there was never a "big comeback" from these 2-fight "skids."

Dan Hardy and Matt Brown are the correct answer. Bruce Leeroy and Nik Lentz are also doing a good job at reestablishing themselves after some rocky moments in their careers.
